I've been using #Jellyfin for a while, but I always felt a little uneasy leaving it publicly exposed to the Internet. So I wrote Gandalf to help protect me! https://skippy.net/gandalf/ #blaugust

Gandalf

I wrote a simple little authorization tool to protect my Jellyfin instance.

I wrote to @1password@1password.social expressing my disappointment with their funding of Omacom. They provided me the standard corporate response, to which I replied. https://skippy.net/1password-and-omarchy/ #1password

@rbreich@masto.ai could you please just copy/paste the text of your Bluesky posts into the text box on your Mastodon account? Pictures of posts of your own content isn't particularly accessible to people who use screen readers, and shows low effort on your part. I'm sure there are apps that permit nice cross-posting to both platforms.

@misterscience@mastodon.world @jaredwhite@indieweb.social https://zuzai.org/ Just found this earlier in my feed. Not super enamored with the word, but glad someone is trying to own a positive non-AI term.
Zuzai, a new word, indicates the absence of AI

Zuzai, a new word, indicates the absence of AI

About the word zuzai, coined to denote things made or done without artificial intelligence.

@neatnik@social.lol Running my own GoToSocial instance for fediverse participation cost me money for the VPS, and money for the object storage for media, and time and energy to perform backups, track upgrades, upgrade GtS, and manage the VPS server itself. My VPS was (slightly) overprovisioned for just GtS, at $20/month. DigitalOcean Spaces was another $5/month minimum. Sure, I could have found cheaper hosting and storage options, at the expense of spending time researching. It was nice to have my own little fediverse spot, but I had no "local discovery" and limited natural reach. Joining OMGLOL is cheaper per-month, relieves me of administrative time/energy, offers me much more than just fediverse, and provides a community of friendly, helpful people.

@jwz@mastodon.social Curious if you’ve explored CrowdSec at all? https://github.com/crowdsecurity/crowdsec I’ve only glanced at it, but haven’t done a thorough analysis.

@neatnik@social.lol How does this compare to Goguma, generally speaking? Any major additions or glaring omissions?
