with the user’s consent, turns their phone or smart TV into one of those exit nodes.

isn't there someone they forgot to ask?

Idk about other countries, but at least in Poland, ISPs typically forbid customers from "letting other people outside of customer premises use the service" in their ToS.

These proxies wouldn't exist if ISPs enforced their own ToS.

Also, why aren't we holding ISPs accountable for the relayed traffic?

@chatcontrol@mastodon.social Noob question: now the position of eg. Polish govt reported by the website changed from "against" to "for", and so did the positions of most Polish MEPs. Is this based on their actions during the trilogue? Is there some public record of it, or are trilogues secret?

irregular reminder to press the "TEST" button on your RCD EDIT: Ideally at a time when you don't mind a power outage. The RCD is supposed to shut off power when you press TEST.

@piggo@piggo.space @ellie@ellieayla.net @ThePiGuy24@meemu.org looks like each pair is 2x 0.2mm², so ~3-4A? at 230V that'd be around 700-900W, so in theory you could run a gaming PC or a (lower-end) handheld food mixer... you'd probably want to replace that fuse with a lower amperage one though. Also not sure if the insulation is up to spec (1 megaohm at 500V).

@2003MugishaPhocit@mastodon.social It's about different electronic parts inside a laptop. AFAIU: SoC = "System on Chip", i.e. the main processor of a computer SC = "System Controller", i.e. a small always-on microcontroller that controls battery charging, fan speed, etc. @mntmn@mastodon.social , when designing the Reform laptops, decided to connect these two chips using SPI interface, but now realizes using UART interface instead would've been a better idea

Firefox fixes 271 vulnerabilities

so like I'm a noob, but

I remember Firefox getting a security fix every week or so, to the point I got desensitized to the security-announce mailing list of the distro I was using.

Does 271 more vulns make a big difference at that point?

@km@mastodon.babb.no yeah, I'm aware. But copyright isn't given to all human-created stuff, right? If something is so simple that there is only one obvious way to do it, and you use that obvious way, then what you did isn't creative and doesn't get copyright?

@piggo@piggo.space @ellie@ellieayla.net @ThePiGuy24@meemu.org Yeah... I wouldn't want to make a cable like that without checking the relevant European Norms (which are paywalled) and testing it with a calibrated & certified insulation resistance meter (these are expensive AF). Best to just not make cables like that. 3x1.0mm² stranded cable shouldn't have much more overall thickness anyway, and it's made for carrying power so probably a much better idea

@FoxVK@mastodon.sandwich.net depends If PEN splits into PE and N before RCD, and then these two wires are connected again after RCD, then it should trip all the time. Like, you shouldn't be able to turn it on when there's any load at all, because ~half of the return current goes not-through-the-RCD. If "PE" after RCD is only connected to N after RCD, and not to PE before RCD, then the test button should trip the RCD, but a leakage to chassis won't trip the RCD, which is bad. I'm not a certified electrician btw. 1/
