reading docs is helpful -- during today's short look at #Python docs, I discovered that as of 3.14 functools.partial() may take placeholders: this makes it possible to pre-fill any positional argument with a call to partial(); without Placeholder, only the chosen number of leading positional arguments can be pre-filled. #Python #TIL https://docs.python.org/3/library/functools.html#functools.Placeholder

one guy made #LLM vibe-code something, placed the result on github and had a LICENSE file there saying copyright this guy and ISC license. i reached out to him to tell that vibe coded slop is not subject to copyright. the response was: "this is stretching it too far. what should i put in copyright then?" uh-oh #AI #LLM #copyright

#ONLYOFFICE drama is *meh* clearly, as the copyright holder they may impose whatever conditions and restrictions they desire. on the other hand, the onlyoffice vendor says that the software is licensed by AGPL, and this statement creates a certain expectation regaring the applicable licensing conditions. what will the outcome be? i guess, "it depends", and could be an interesting case to watch 🍿

i guess #hetzner went enterprise -- the new prices make me find a new home for new workloads. why? i've been a fan of CCX13 VMs with 2 vCPUs, 8 GB RAM, 80 GB NVMe SSDs and 20 TB traffic. @rl_dane@polymaths.social TBH i haven't researched this topic further -- just noticed in boot message that hw.smt is deprecated and hw.blockcpu would have to be used instead. but yes, hw.smt is off by default, while hw.blockcpu would have to be set. maybe installer does this by default? i also liked how hw.smtp worked
