Speaking of Pixelfed account that I'm curating, it's a roleplay of my sibling's cat, @phenya - mostly in Russian and there is likely no "Translate" option in your interface because all Pixelfed posts are marked English, so, uh, just enjoy pics
(my RP is subpar anyway)

@plzupgrademe@fedi.txw.ca @antimundo@mastodon.gamedev.place In regards to my user experience with Pixelfed, ugh... it's so slugish. You can barely make out the picture that you're writing ALT text for, because it's put in a tiny square without any zooming features. And still can't choose language. No wonder nobody cares much for accessibility on these platforms, UI feels like a minefield.

@plzupgrademe@fedi.txw.ca @antimundo@mastodon.gamedev.place OK, 4 photos per post is more of a legacy thing that's kept for compatibility across some ActivityPub platforms, I think (but also maybe because conservatism much). Viewing your post from Mastodon would cause issues such as seeing less than there is. Mastodon is at fault for not providing "View more" link when there are more than 4, IMO.

She pushed me to an idea: English remake of the popular meme.

@unknown231 Without custom client or relying on people to correctly set their post language, the only way I see is by using filters. Make it detect the signs of other scripts being used by adding characters. But I'll say it's one tiresome method! Also doesn't work all that good with languages that use latin.
Proceed to your Mastodon settings and pick English among languages that you wish to see. Be careful as it will also hide seemingly English but incorrectly marked as foreign posts. (It has a potential to accidentally create an echo chamber.)
If you get accustomed to random languages popping up in your feed, there is "Translate" option (ensure your server doesn't exceed quota only so few times). Unfortunately, Mastodont doesn't have a concept of letting people mislabel their posts, so, again, it might not automatically detect language from the post that was marked English (when it's in fact not).

My pet peeve with software is that sometimes it will make ridiculous assumptions, such as "Nothing to see here" or "No log", but then suddenly change its footwear mid-air. Just show me "Loading", coward! You're not making it invisible, you're making it annoying.

@Gargron@mastodon.social That's a reasonable switch, made one such myselfnot long ago. But got really tired of the Opera era bloat, so I'm now on Zen. I recommend making acquaintance with Zen team. They have the strong policy against useless AI and the UI is so less cluttered.

@nina_kali_nina@tech.lgbt As shown in the example by @la@social.lol, it's a lot of personal data being automatically suggested by browser when and where you least expect it. Let's say if there was something more damning than full name that you could just make up: phone number, personal email. All shall be bombarded if they befall in the wrong hands. Sometimes, it's just easy to forget that you broadcast your browser with a bunch of history to the entire world.
Switching browsers ensures that data is just where you left it (in Chrome, Firefox or whatever). Or disable form suggestions altogether, to be on the safe side.
Also, when I looked at your supposed card number popping up, I assumed that it IS your personal laptop.

Using your primary browser on stream is opening yourself to multiple vectors of attack, I'd think. Careful with what you expose ;)

@nina_kali_nina@tech.lgbt As I figured, but I didn't need to know any of that. xD Obviously, you wouldn't publicize your real digits on Mastodon and then proceed to complain that *gasp* it leaked card into the world (by your hand anyway). Surely not.

Spicy Poll: Sex in Public (NSFW)
@tiefling@bardicperspiration.club Did that in one city park's cruising spot at winter with partner that introduced me to it. The idea was still crazy to me that not much patrolling was done there, even though it's fairly near to public transportation. The situation has changed within a few years, of course.

@iamada@tech.lgbt @june@social.nekover.se @Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt Hm, I think browsers should feed bogus data, just so sites wouldn't even detect it being held back. But it's not a trivial task, knowing the consequences of falling behind this treadmill: one data point slips out - and suddenly all users of the same browser pay the price.

@plzupgrademe@fedi.txw.ca @antimundo@mastodon.gamedev.place I've actually embraced that 4-per-post limitation by grouping similar or related photos together in little shareable stories that I publish as part of single thread, and my ALT text doesn't get too much into details. But if I were to do it via Pixelfed, I'd definitely call it quits on 5th childpost, haha!

Be aware that moderation on Mozilla end can get hectic with this much people willing to join. Just my thoughts aloud why decentralization is required today in the first place.

@prahou@merveilles.town Thank you for this wisdom! Do you suppose I could translate the text on panel into Russian or only the alt-text? (Links to you, comic and this post are due.) 😊

I pretty much like the aura of people who don't strive to earn those brownie points in the arguments and just hold it to themselves, prioritizing other personal wins.

Toby Fox was cooking something when he came up with names Asriel and Ralsei. Did you know it's also an anagram for Israel?
