Immigrant, singer, ex-techwriter, ex-editor, ex-TickIT auditor, catlady, Baha'i. Living in Charente Maritime, France. Used to design, implement, and deploy CRM middleware, but now forgotten how because left it to study for music BA(Hons) at UEA. I propose that politicians and legislators be required to pass a test about anything which they propose or judge. Expert advice during the exam would be encouraged, but the responses must be handwritten by the examinee.
This proposal is shrieked into the sky (with less polite vocabulary) subsequent to the horrified realisation that many politicos seem not to know what an operating system is.
Visiting townies remark how quiet it is here in the little hamlet amongst the fields and vines.
Not quiet today.
A wasp, a shield-bug, and two large flies are buzzing and banging around the SFKnAT. One neighbour is sawing planks, another is strimming. A teenager rides a quadbike up and down the cul-de-sac. Something spooked all three collections of hunting dogs, who are barking frantically. Two roosters are shouting at each other.
You can hardly hear the garden birds.
Awaiting updates on archeological digs at Wogan Cavern, especially the evidence of it being used as a dwelling more than 11000 years ago.
Having been put off by the term "doughnut economics", I decided to put aside prejudice against greasy fast-food and find out what it's about.
Here's Richard Murphy's excellent explanation -
@baz@mastodon.scot @muddle@infosec.exchange @alanferrier@mastodon.scot IOW = Isle of Wight, oh yes it does.
In school, the sixth-form Debating Society put on an excellent discussion: "UDI* for the Isle of Wight". Very informative about the economic effects, electricity supply, health service etc. I think of it now.
- In case of dyslexia, please note that's Unilateral Declaration of Independence, i.e. when an appropriated country gives up on polite requests and referenda, and is not to be confused with IUD. (Gah, TLAs.)
Baby sangliers are extremely cute, especially trotting through a forest.
They are Perky* rather than Pinky*.
* Cultural ref for older Anglos.
Several reports of English people upset that their holiday flights might be cancelled because of fuel shortages.
Very little sympathy here, except for people hoping to visit family and friends.
Much sympathy for people working in the tourist industry, but for those who plan a flight for a holiday given recent circumstances? Not much.

Good point, though I can't conform. I toot in more than one language, sometimes more than one in a toot. I can't find a setting for the language of a toot in my app, but it automatically recognises most* languages of others' toots for translating, even when there are two or more.
- Most European as well as some Asian, that is. Doesn't yet cope with e.g. Saintongeais and Cornish.
@sysadmin1138@ngmx.com Hurrah for the many and varied! Once upon a time a big company's R&D division had training days to discuss the personality profiles* we'd completed. It was stressed that a good team needed at least one of each type.
After a later invasion of head office (not R&D) control freakery, standardisation was imposed; the people who did the work but didn't fit the company profile didn't get pay rises. Didn't do the company any good.
