“Simplicity is a great virtue but it requires hard work to achieve it and education to appreciate it. And to make matters worse: complexity sells better.”, Edsger W. Dijkstra

- multi-lingual knowledge for calculating exactly (very welcome in a world where approximate solutions like LLMs are too quickly/broadly jumped to, I think)
great presentation from @vrandecic@mas.to
@bert_hubert Thanks a lot for writing that. It helps. I have mostly additional questions, sorry:
- A lot of problems are related to "Big sth". Can we make/keep power small?
- Politicians/bosses that act completely different than promised, without mentioning new circumstances and insights. Can we make that more difficult?
- Next to self-censorship there's also self-bribery
- What might seem like an innocent little preference, can result in systemic problems: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parable_of_the_Polygons
Bizarre schaal is suïcidaal.
Fijne dag
“Today you know that 220 volts comes out of the socket, and you know that the water from the tap is drinkable,” he states. “But junk comes out of your internet connection. The only way to solve that is if we bring the insights on our own data close to ourselves.”

Too bad @Vivaldi@social.vivaldi.net wasn't mentioned, its tab management features are great.
"Design Students Experimenting with Free Software. When teaching design, the question of how much software should be taught is as persistent as it is relevant. In this talk, I present some notes on an assignment given to design university students from several disciplines, in which they are asked to identify and test free and open-source software for a common task in their daily practice, and to produce a short evaluation and public review."
