Coding is not the hard part of making software. People are the hard part of making software.
Therefore, computer science is a humanities study.

This is such a demotivating time to work in IT.
Like...none of the things I care about matter anymore, at least, not for the business idiots.
Feels like none of what I do matters, at all.
I'd rather cut grass with a pair of scissors than continue working like this.
> This is the story of how and why I decided to pursue a muscular physique as a woman in my thirties. Most of it was sort of unplanned, but the start of it all has a very common reason: back pain.
> So far "the agenda" of how technology was being wielded by companies has largely worked in favour of developers. They've been coddled with massages, Nintendo Switches, free food, gyms at work. They were well paid. That's because, apparently, there was a time when that was worth it for companies.
Not because you were special. You just thought you were special, and that's the problem.
And now, that time is over.

> The more they want to force me to offload my work to an LLM, the more I'll grab my pen and paper to take notes, take my time to think, to plan my work, to do my work; slowly and thoroughly.
The more they want to de-skill me, the more I'll study my craft and care about doing my craft well.
They will not break me.
OK nevermind, I take back what I said. Kagi won April Fool's Day <3
How do you get the point across to business idiots that code is a form of codified knowledge? And that, if you let an LLM generate it, you lose that knowledge??
Average Dutch office: it’s just a little past 5PM and everybody noped the fuck out of the work day. As it should be.
It’s not about you!!!!, is what I want to shout to LLM hypers.
“But i could so quickly do x”
Cool! But is that worth fucking over the planet??
It’s not about you!!!
This is the era of the business idiot.
Where can I still work in IT that has no business idiots??
Current ink obsession: take-sumi.
How can a black ink be this good??!! It’s just a black color, who cares. Idk, it just looks so niiiiiiice!!!
Inked pen: Sailor Tuzu Adjust F nib
Y’all remember the time when many developers said things like “the best code is the code that’s never written”?
Yeah…Pepperidge farm remembers.
I will be giving a free webinar next week Wednesday 11 March from 19:00-20:00 CET for Desk Dwellers who want to learn how to live healthier with tiny steps and no added stress!
I hope you'll join me :) Re-toots appreciated!
Register on my website.
Sad to say I'll use Google Meet to host the thing, but otherwise your data (e-mail address) is in my administration and will be deleted after the webinar is done.
I, for one, am deeply saddened by the amount of intelligent people around me who keep calling “AI” a tool. @larsmb@mastodon.online
Also, it would really delight me if you start using the hashtag #deskdwellers for challenges you face as someone with a desk job.
How do you cope? Got any good tips for other Desk Dwellers to get more movement in? Good stretches for the neck and back aches? :)
OH yeah, forgot to share!!
I tried reading Infinite Jest and I had to give up after about 300 pages.
I had zero clue what this book was trying to do, where it was going. I gave exactly zero shits about any of the characters.
Life's too short for this bullshit, byeeeeeee!!!
I think I lost brain cells watching this Q1 update presenation, and I feel so salty.
They want to vibe code an existing app that has turned into a goddamned mess (oracle APEX, I mean wtf), and the deadline is Q1 2027.
Cue my confusion: it's vibe coding, right? Why does it take so long then?? Is the problem perhaps not the code??? Then WHAT IS THIS SOLVING OMGGGG
made the mistake of watching back the Q1 department update:
AI AI AI AI
Vibe coding
Lovable
Speed/more "stuff"
I don't want this world.
Wtf???!!! On Deezer, these are the top tracks for My Dying Bride.
If you are familiar with the band, you know that this list is really odd.
Life consists of so many chores: working, cooking, sleeping, cleaning, taking care of yourself (and possibly dependents). I get it: you’re busy.
What I don’t get is that working out seems to be the one “chore” that a lot of y’all see as optional.
Your body doesn’t care whether you like working out or not. Or whether you can make the time or not. If you dont use it (your body), you lose it (fitness, muscle mass). So work out, don’t view it as optional!!
2-3 h a week gets you FAR.

Seems like a fun idea to use my omg.lol Now page for that!
Hi developers, please broaden your understanding about software testing. What it can and cannot do.
Sincerely signed: a tester who has loved working with you while at the same time has been very frustrated to work with you.
