If you're reading this, you're a person this is written for. Remember the days of people making sites because they wanted to. You spent hours just typing in random URLs you thought may be cool... and they were.

Fuck content creators, fuck influencers, fuck ever asshole who turned the web into a campitalists teenaged wet dream. And dealt with it on the same level of maturity. The web is still there. We're still making sties for the sole purpose to put something out there for you to find.

They claim to be a "human only" art site. They verify you create human only art.

Cool. I joined to see what they're about.

They allow ANY user to share your work on all of meta's platforms, xitter, pinterest, tiktok, and tumblr. You, the user, cannot stop anyone from posting your work on the worst sites for AI training.

I asked them about it, and they said: "We're looking into it. We may allow an individual to turn that off in the future."

I pointed out the hypocrisy and stupidity of this by default.

They banned me.

On my site, the story it tells is non-linear. A guest can go to any area and find parts of the story. In almost any area they can go, additional "telegrams" appear. Some are triggered by action, inaction, time, keyboard combos, or mouse movement. Most are various types story; journal entries, notes, documents, transcripts. This one is an error log. In the data additional info is hidden. Some obvious, some not so much.

I quite like the sound effects as well.

Syncasters were doubleplus insidious. Appearing in the last decade of the Conflict, these biomech passive attack entities would render several km square effectively dead.

Dropped into a populated area these units used recently dead gray matter as a neural brown noise weapson. Amplifying and broadcasting the full spectrum of the reactivated brain's misfired synapses into the attack zone. Within days any higher functioning mammal would be reduced to a dysfunctional zombie ready to be invaded and wiped out. This gave the attacker an area plus ripe in resources they desperately needed.

LOL When I worked in IT my boss sent me to a 4day conference thing. Mostly because she hated conferences. I liked the free travel. I was told: "Take good notes. I need to know the important stuff."

I drew 2 cartoons per session. I handed that in the AM when I got back. 10:55 I got called into her office along with the guy who went with me (he took no notes, relying on my furious motion of pens).

"What the hell is this?"
"You said good notes, those are excellent, they look just like those people."
"WTF. What am I supposed to do with this? Look at this." Holding up an image of two guys, one brutishly huge, the other comically geek CEO stereotype and 2/3 the size of the other.

"Oh that was the two yanks who were trying to sell everyone on the proprietary protocols they were offering." I then mimicked them and 3 minutes of the sales pitch. My coworker had tears coming down his eyes.

My boss glaring at him; "This is funny?"

"That's exactly how they sounded and acted. OMG." Laughing even more as I posed like the ape who just glared at us in silence.

"So I'm supposed to just, what, have you perform everyone of these?"

"if you want. I use them as mnemonic triggers. I did memorise ever session for you."

"FFS. Next time I need to be more specific."

"Certainly. If you want me to be something I am not."

I really did like that job a lot.

She had me sit in on our monthly ALL IT meetings from then on, always finding an excuse to not be there. The cartoons lined her white board.

Late 90's -> early 2k's we had a flurry of sites just for the hell of it. I loved that period of the web (just look at my site).

I was showing in a few galleries simultaneiously throughout those years. All of them wanted an artist's statement. I find them to be absolute bullshit. They're either written to show you how the artist envisions an ideal version of themself; or they're what the artist thinks you would want to hear.

Do any of us have an exact version of "me"? Go from Tuesday to Saturday and that statement will be different. Telling the truth about yourself is, at best, trying to shoot a moving target while swinging on a rope.

There was a site: the artwank generator. It was glorious, I used it every chance I had. It asked for a bit of data then at the end, a pulldown for how many paragraphs you wanted. Click generate, poof, the most hyperbolic 3rd year art school artwank you could ever want. The galleries loved them. All of them knew what I was doing too.

This is a shadow of that site, but at least someone is still out there artwanking for the greater good.
