@sundogplanets@mastodon.social AI is terrible for citations. Citations are a huge part of my job (I edit at a journal). All of us journal people are trying to send up the alarm about how much AI screws up citations, and no one is listening. If you ask AI to format your citations it will mess up all your DOIs and make things that look right but are not at all. JAMA has written a thing on this, which is polite and journal-speak for "oh god, oh god, do not let AI touch your citations": https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2852772

COYOTE VS. ACME IS BEING RELEASED!!!!! I have wanted to see this movie since I heard about it and I’m so excited I’ll finally get the chance. (If you don’t know the hell it has gone through to get released it’s worth reading up on.) Trailer here:

@skinnylatte@hachyderm.io Booooo. The points were valid; Matt Stoller is the dude to follow on this stuff. Based on his spelling errors he doesn’t use AI.

Replying to

@timmc @jessamyn @m750 Photo of @bones in action! He holds a large plank against the side to flatten it out and then fills in the cube at the top. He also uses a tamper to flatten out the mound. It can sometimes require removing the top from Snow Mountain in order to fill in (that’s the pile at the entry to the driveway). Hopefully he will have more tips when he comes in. I will say, the defined sides made it MUCH easier to find the edges of the sidewalk when shoveling during the blizzard. #snow

Worth the read; to quote:
“Q: Given the season, what lessons do you think believers and nonbelievers should take from the story of Easter?
A: Always make sure you know what someone’s planning when they ask you to bring a cross somewhere.”
