@avidrissman@mas.to @julienw@pouet.chapril.org @gruber@mastodon.social Every other browser stays secure without having a persistent background updater, Chrome is not unique in having to handle data from the Internet. Chrome may download updates while the browser is not running but those won’t be applied until the user clicks ‘Update’ in the UI. How is it more secure than downloading the update while the browser is running? A fresh Chrome install still drops the Keystone binaries around macOS. If it doesn’t use them why place them?

@grumpy_website@mastodon.online I had about a 100 curated links saved to a note in rich preview form. During one of the OS updates, every single one of those link previews just showed a spinner. No way to extract the link or even click. This happened across the board—iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and even the web. Apple Support was useless.

@avidrissman@mas.to @julienw@pouet.chapril.org @gruber@mastodon.social Chrome and Edge are the only browsers on macOS that add a persistent background updater under System Settings -> General -> App Background Activity. Chrome also has the distinction of still bundling the infamous Keystone binaries. Not a good Mac platform citizen.

@saagar @KevinHoctor Unlike React, this is the kind of DX that does trickle down to UX.

@jgordon@appdot.net They kept reading about Apple Nerdsphere lamenting the loss of whimsy in Apple software. This was the result.

@Daytonlowell@mastodon.social @gruber@mastodon.social iBook is right there. A new line of devices, not just a new iPhone. Unlike ‘Fold’, it actually conveys the experience of such a device. Can even be used for future large, folding iPads.

@Daytonlowell@mastodon.social If Apple Marketing were going strictly by a set playbook, MacBook Neo would have been called MacBook SE. ‘iPhone’ definitely has tremendous marketing value, but marketing it as yet another variant doesn’t seem to be unique enough to pay the super premium prices. The buyer has to feel they are getting something more and different than others. ‘Ultra’ ain’t cutting it.

@davew@mastodon.social Let’s try again; is the WordPress MCP you mentioned on your blog able to fix layout issues like the ones in the attached screenshots? The first is how it loads by default, and the second is how it looks after manually adjusting zoom.

@Vivaldi@social.vivaldi.net As mentioned in your post, the previous implementation of Pinned Tabs never made sense to me. Restricting the pinned tab to a particular domain is a good step. However, I would like to see a keyboard shortcut that returns the pinned tab to the original pinned URL. Dia offers that option.
