My sister is applying for internships and just showed me an application form that asked her where she went to high school and made her list her past employers by selecting from a drop-down list (I will let you guess what options were there besides “Other – Technology Company”)

I can’t imagine a more on-the-nose way to strip the joy from childhood than this. Maybe if you just spend some more money on Nostalgia you desperately want to cling to you will forget that taxes are due next week and your manager wants the quarterly report revised again

It’s patently artificial but you have lost the ability to tell, or maybe you can still feel that there’s something wrong about it, but you have scarcely the time and energy to care anymore

Kimi K3 can build a coherent end-to-end compiler* – from DSL frontend and IR passes to PTX codegen† and runtime‡ – rather than isolated kernels; its from-scratch§ Tensor Core¶ path
*No you can’t see it
†We used MLIR
‡And NVRTC
§We gave it the Triton codebase

Tool use? Ah, that’s a common misconception. It’s not named for what the agents are calling but rather refers to the guys who are using the AI

You can learn a lot about advanced packaging techniques by watching YouTube Shorts with obnoxious background music apparently

Amazing things are happening in the under $1k SF apartment filter. I just found a place without a sqft number and has a realtor-uploaded photo that indicates it is directly neighboring a “topless gentleman’s club”

Another option is 70 square feet and proudly advertises an in-unit sink (the only amenity in the otherwise featureless room). Credit score 650+ to apply

In my tests, with good internet this downloads iOS symbols several times faster and watchOS symbols at least an order of magnitude faster. Think 30 seconds rather than minutes

I think it is very good that Claude Code just passes slash commands to the model directly. Definitely nothing wrong with telling Opus that I used /context. It certainly won’t bring up that it’s close to compacting every response as an excuse to avoid doing work…

You can tell Anthropic hasn’t figured out alignment yet because if they did the model would call the cops on you the moment it realized you had ever used OpenClaw

When DALL-E came out and was a novelty I remember people using it as an artistic style. Is anyone still doing that? Rather than focusing on making realistic content, using video models for dream sequences, text hallucinations for a psychosis-like effect, body horror, etc.

Yeah so imagine that someone suddenly became very rich and got a hot new side piece and so their crazy vindictive ex (who everyone warned them to avoid in the first place) is now airing a bunch of dirty laundry during the divorce. Except it’s somehow about computers

It’s hard to find good things to say about GitHub these days but I will give them credit that their terms of service are refreshingly succinct and really easy to understand. If you haven’t given them a read yet now is a good opportunity to do so: https://docs.github.com/en/site-policy/github-terms/github-terms-of-service

Pretty soon I feel like if you pause for a moment Clippy^W^W^W^W^W^W Siri is just going to pop up and ask you what you’d like help with. It’s so bad. And unlike Apple Intelligence they nuked all the options for Siri so you can’t even disable the parts you don’t like

It’s amazing how the “try a bunch of undiscoverable stuff and see if it works” programming model of SwiftUI seems to have been totally saved by the existence of AI which excels at doing exactly this

I’m sick of ruining perfectly good recursive code because “iT mIgHt StAcK oVeRfLoW”. Dude I have endless virtual address space. If I put all this on the heap it would work just fine. Figure it out

Maybe when all the Apple bloggers stop fellating themselves about Siri “being good now” (read: email search works sometimes, if you’re using Apple Mail, and let it index for 67 days) they can actually remember the days when new features weren’t designed by Nikita Bier wannabes

This Thursday I’m tricking a bunch of iOS developers into listening to me speak about threat models and secure design. Come join me at Verkada’s San Mateo office to hear about pushing the state of the art forward in sandboxing AI agents on macOS! https://luma.com/51htcbzd

You know you’re in for a good time when you’re working on something in an area you’re unfamiliar in, wonder how a specific edge case is handled by other implementations, and find out the answer is “they don’t lmao”

Search for an app? Nope, it’s Siri now. Blank page? Write with Siri! Hover over content? Siri can tell you about it. Right click? Ask Siri. Swipe down for notifications? Nope, we shoved that into the top left. People know Siri, not silly alerts, come from the top of your screen

I have to admit that the Siri Recap stuff all being “documented” using AI slop is really giving me confidence in the level of care that went into designing this feature
