Respecting your readers starts with *not* designing your blog so that the body text is 10-11 px. Why this gratuitous perversion?
Now I increasingly see this other approach:
- I want to make money with software, because software is everywhere, but I don’t know how to code. (Or: I want to make an app, I can code, but I have no real UI/UX experience).
- I use ‘AI’ tools to vibecode my little idea. (Or: I make the app, looks good enough to me and for my needs).
- The tool is crap (or unpolished, or so platform-agnostic it feels alien in any supported environment).
- Profit, if any, through subscriptions.

I empathise with people ranting about stuff. Hell, nowadays I feel I have at least three topics per day I want to rant about. But I implore you, if your rant becomes a TED-Talk-long thread in 32 or more parts, please create a personal blog and post it there too, so that it gets more readable.
The twenty-ninth of August. The tyrannous heat, which hath held this city in its fiery grip these many weeks, hath at last relented, and doth now but haunt the memory like a fever dream. This morn, I did wander through the pages of art and divers tongues, feasting my mind upon the wisdom of ages. Anon, with my good wife, I did perform the common errands of the day, our baskets filled with the humble necessaries of life.

I wanted to write something about this particular subject, but this brilliant duo have already said what I wanted to say, and much better than I could.

We had better tools ten years ago.
We had friendlier tools twenty years ago.
[This is a public draft. 😏]
Upon this twenty-eighth day of August, after but a scant repose, I rose and straightway felt a grievous ache within my back—the lingering ghost of that pilgrimage I made two days agone. My wife did anoint my sore with healing balm, and by degrees the pain did slacken its fell grip. Yet I chose to keep within our walls & rest. Then we ventured forth to purchase victuals as the eve's meal required. By the time the sun did sink, my ailment had all but fled, leaving but a memory of its cruel visit.
Do you want to know what’s one of the Mac apps I miss the most?
Mailsmith.
If there’s one email client that managed to make me migrate from Apple’s Mail (the email client I’ve used since Day 1), it’s Mailsmith. I had to go back to Mail once it was clear Mailsmith’s development had stopped.
I understand that Bare Bones didn’t have enough resources to properly continue to make BBEdit *and* Mailsmith, but it’s a damn shame this email client was left behind.
A search for an old email in my archives surfaced an email exchange I thought I had forgotten for good.
I still wince at how someone supposedly intelligent and insightful could utterly, completely misread something I wrote and me as a person.
Anyway, this did not affect my mood, and that’s a good thing.
“More innovation! More apps!”
We can’t innovate anymore, Craig. You have made our brains dumb with all your AI.
LOL. Sigh.
“But it happened.”
I had noticed that too, and planned to write a blog post about it. Guess I won’t need to do that, as this video pretty much shares my exact thoughts on the matter.
"But it happened."
This was a particularly good run. But the 3 (three!) Abductors that were patrolling the area were particularly annoying...
I used to have a Protonmail.ch email address. I didn’t check it that often, but now apparently it has vanished into thin air without a single word or warning or heads-up from Proton. (I had a secondary email address associated with it, so they could have written me there).
It’s so very 2026 that I’d like to explore more Linux distros but I have to do *further fucking homework* to understand which ones have their communities infiltrated by fascists and/or AI.
I’ll probably just get a Commodore Amiga and go back to AmigaOS.
