NOTICE: Shortcuts broke its x-callback-url implementation.

Seems to be part of the security fix for CVE-2026-28993 included in iOS 26.5/18.7.9, macOS 26.5/15.7.7/14.8.7. On these OSes, it’s no longer possible to get a result from a Shortcut call via `x-success` callback, you will *always* get an x-error.

In theory, per the CVE, Shortcuts should offer a permissions prompt, not just fail.

At the time the goal was consulting, then the App Store came along. Took until ~2019 until it was all App Store, and no consulting.

I don’t know if any of this would have worked if I didn’t have such good timing, but happy it did.

I feel like, when the HOA complains about the weeds in our landscaping, they could, at least, mention the nice daisies.

Going to test drive a Rivian R1S tomorrow. More interested in an R2, potentially, but never been in one, so thought I'd take a look.

@amyworrall@mastodon.social I'm currently migrating Drafts to use encryptedValues for content (they didn't exist when I first built the sync).

Moving forward, the app will use the encrypted fields for any new content and modifications, but I decided to do an optional migration for existing records only for people who care – because otherwise I’m going to have to modify tens of thousands of records, that are all going to need to be re-synced and be part of the re-play history for a new device, etc…
