I don't get how software folks don't see the gap between what we make and what the bosses make. Like a company that I worked for that IPOd, the CEO got 1000x what the folks who'd been doing the actual work since the beginning got, and like 10000x what more recent hires like myself got. That ain't right.

@stux@mstdn.social The two major reasons that execution sucks is because we often get the person wrong, and because in the case of your general every day person there's no deterrent effect, so it's cruel and it doesn't work at what it's supposed to do. We have not, during the era of science, carried out a sufficient experiment to find out if it would deter oligarchs and dictators from intentionally doing the damage they do, though. I, for one, support running an extended experiment.
