Barge carrying humpback whale Timmy reaches the North Sea: “He can seek his freedom”.
The barge carrying the whale that became stranded in Germany two months ago has reached the North Sea. A maritime tracking website shows that the floating aquarium passed the northernmost tip of Denmark last night.

Dutch government launches self-hosted alternative to GitHub.
The Dutch government has launched code.overheid.nl. This is a dedicated platform for publishing open-source software, hosted by the government itself. This move marks a departure from GitHub and GitLab. According to the government, this decision was made in response to the growing need for digital sovereignty.

Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar plans to nominate the “Queen of Chess,” Judit Polgár, as the country’s president. In a Facebook post, he writes that he will meet with her on Monday and ask her to serve in the office until a new constitution is adopted.
--Trump must be so bummed. He lost his Nazi supporters, and now a woman is in power! It’s just a ceremonial role, but we won’t tell him that. Hah… He should’ve gone to school. Loser.

Norwegian residential neighborhood goes up in flames.
The fire broke out yesterday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. It started in a townhouse and, due to the dry and warm weather, quickly spread to nearby buildings. Due in part to the dense development, the dry vegetation, and the shifting wind direction, the fire was difficult to control. More than a hundred homes were destroyed in the blaze.

A newly released hacking tool makes it possible to bypass Windows’ BitLocker encryption and gain access to stored data.
The proof-of-concept code has been publicly released on GitHub. The anonymous security researcher, Nightmare-Eclipse, who discovered the zero-day vulnerability, also provides detailed technical information on how to exploit this security flaw in Windows’ disk encryption. Furthermore, the hacker claims that it appears to be a deliberate backdoor in Windows.
The negative press coverage about Argentina and racist remarks by fans are piling up. The Argentines have lost on two counts: in soccer and in human dignity.
--Oh, yeah, three! That politically motivated little thing about the Falklands. You can shove that up your ass, too.
Since 1970, the level of CO2 in the air has risen from 336 ppm to 428 ppm. Over 56 years, that’s an increase of 92 ppm—or 1.64 ppm per year compared to the previous year. At 1,000 ppm, reduced cognitive performance, drowsiness, headaches, and difficulty concentrating begin to occur. If we extrapolate linearly, in 348 years you won’t be able to breathe properly anymore, and in just 104 years, you’ll start to feel like it’s just as stuffy outside as in a poorly ventilated room.
Wishful thinking.
Trump had predicted beforehand that Xi would greet him with a “big, fat hug”.

Albedo is the portion of incoming sunlight that a surface or planet reflects back to where it came from. A high albedo—whether caused by white roofs or ice-covered seas—keeps things cool.
But here we are, rushing in with our roofs and fields full of solar panels—which actually require a low albedo and thus contribute to the warming of the Earth’s surface. The irony is, you can’t paint them white because then they won’t work anymore.

The European Commission is imposing a fine of 550 million euros on the Chinese online retailer AliExpress because the company is not doing enough to prevent the sale of illegal products. The maximum fine the European Commission can impose is 6 percent of annual revenue, which means the fine could have been as high as nearly 8 billion euros.

So who are you going to destroy, you orange fatso? Yourself?
Fruitful or scorched earth?
The accounts of the talks provided by the Chinese and US governments differ considerably, suggesting that although some minor trade successes have been ‘achieved’, the two countries remain miles apart when it comes to their respective political positions. It remains to be seen whether this state visit can truly be described as leading to more fruitful cooperation between the two countries. It certainly won’t be easy.
Two Wildberries distribution centers in Russia were bombed by Ukrainian drones.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, Wildberries—A Russian EBay founded at the beginning of this century and hugely popular in Russia, its vassal states, and former satellite states—transports military goods and supplies the Russian army with components for drones and electronic warfare. This makes it a legitimate military target. Seven civilians were killed and 48 were injured.

Spain is the world champion. Although vilified and politically attacked by Trump and Argentine dignitaries in the media, the players paid no heed to the political polarization, and the Spanish team swept the Argentines off the field with a 1-0 victory.

Fifty years ago, the Americans landed the first Mars lander on Mars. I’m holding my breath as that moron Musk gets himself crowned Emperor Madcap of Mars. That is, if he manages to be the first to pollute the Red Planet. No doubt that will lead to a planetary war and other “fun” activities around the Christmas tree.
The result of a synchrotron scanner, a machine that sends X-rays through tissue, a clitoris, using radiation energy of approximately 2.5 gray, travelling through a 150-metre-long tunnel to a detector. Judith Huirne, professor of gynaecology at Amsterdam UMC, produced the first scan showing exactly how the nerves in the organ run and how they branch out; “The neuroanatomy is truly beautiful, and no, the clitoris is not just a small penis.”
The Netherlands will soon stop allowing products from Israeli settlements in the West Bank. Europe is still not unanimously convinced. But even if the ban is implemented, it will be difficult to identify an orange as a settlement product.

Leiden, the Netherlands, is older than previously thought.
The discovery of wooden foundation piles—from which a large tree was felled in the year 650—shows that Leiden is older than previously thought. Leiden is believed to have been founded in the 12th century. Because the Rhine River regularly changed its course, it is suspected that Leiden was flooded between the years 650 and 1200 and was rebuilt in the 12th century.
