While I don't understand why so many people are anthropomorphizing it, the choice of he/him when they do it does make sense to me, because its name is "Claude," which is a very male-coded name.
I was just thinking about Siri, which spoke with a man's voice until Apple purchased it and put it in iOS and made it female-presenting, voicewise. (At least in the US.) People who anthropomorphize Siri will typically use she/her and now Siri seems like a female-coded name (to me.)
I guess there are a number of different cues as to which gender to apply when anthropomorphizing, but it's interesting to me that I never encountered someone gendering the gps navigation they installed in their car, despite it talking.
