Unser Fedi-Punk Workshop anläßlich des di.day ist jetzt eine Woche her.
Seitdem sind sowohl bei "unseren" Instanzen, als auch bei anderen mehr User*innen dazu gekommen.
Noch einmal Herzlich Willkommen.
Wenn ihr Bilder postet, b̶i̶t̶t̶e̶ achtet auf Alttext.
Gerade das Fediverse versucht inklusiv zu sein. Im Fediverse gibt es viele User*innen, die auf Screenreader angewiesen sind.
Wenn ihr Bilder ohne Alttext postet, haben die Screenreader keine Möglichkeit den User*innen zu sagen, was dies für ein Bild ist.
Das ist das Gegenteil von barrierfrei.
Also seid Teil der positiven Veränderung und nutzt Alttexte!

We are working on an English version of our website, and then we will need your help for translating it into other languages. Beside German and English, we would love to offer a version in:
But it shouldn't be done by DeepL only, we would love to have real people having a look and making it more enjoyable.
So if you can help, please reply in the comments with the languages you want to help us. (It's voluntary work of course)

Something many bands, clubs & promoters understand wrong about the Fediverse:
There is no algorithm!
So here are some tips which make your Fediverse life hopefully a little bit more successful.
If you post a concert 2 weeks before the event, people will only see it around the time you post it.
- On Mastodon and where you can quote: make your event post quotable and quote your own event regua
- use hashtags. Not only in the original post, but also in the quote post. Some people follow them, some hashtags are auto-reposted like #punk
- use pictures for a post. If you want that Pixelfed user see your post too, an image is needed.
- On Pixelfed and others where you can't quote: repost your event regularly. Maybe make more than one post with different images
- If you are playing with other bands, have a look if they are already in the Fediverse. If yes, link them in your post.
Search for it. Or the club you play.... A great starting point here is https://fedi.punk.guide - @FediPunkGuide@mastodon.social
- is your account on the for you best instance? If you are a metal band, maybe think about switching to https://metalhead.club - I'm pretty sure @thomas@metalhead.club will welcome you with open arms
If you are in a punk band, maybe think about joining https://punk.photos (Pixelfed) or https://punkstodon.de (Mastodon).
But there are a lot more punk instances. We list some of them on https://punx.social please have a look.
If your club is in Berlin, maybe https://berlin.social is a good place? And Cologne clubs will make find a lot of locals at https://social.cologne and so on. The easiest way to find it, is searching for it on https://fedidb.com
You can always switch instances and take all your followers with you.
Follow accounts like @FediTips@social.growyourown.services to get great tips about the Fediverse. When you used FB, Twitter or Insta the first time, you also had to get used to it.

Wir würden jederzeit gerne wieder einen kleinen Vortag machen.
Am Di.day (im Juni oder Juli) oder an einem anderen Tag.
1,5-2h Vortrag zum Fediverse und wie ihr das als Veranstalter*innen, Clubs, Bands oder NGOs / politische Gruppen am Besten nutzen könnt.
Wir brauchen nur einen Laden in Berlin (oder auch mal in Potsdam), wo genug Leute Platz finden können (~20-30 oder so), es sollte rauchfrei sein und es sollte einen Beamer geben...
Und Internet sollte übers Handy empfangbar sein...
Wünschenswert wäre auch Rolli-Kompatibilität.

Since then, more users have joined both “our” instances and others.
Once again, welcome!
When you post images, p̶l̶e̶a̶s̶e̶ pay attention to alt text.
The Fediverse in particular strives to be inclusive. There are many users in the Fediverse who rely on screen readers.
If you post images without alt text, screen readers have no way of telling users what the image is.
This is the opposite of accessibility.
So be part of the positive change and use alt text!

we are running 3 Fediverse servers (with our own money, without begging for it), we run the punx.social website as an information portal for all the people who are into punk and want to inform themselves about the Fediverse.
We can also keep it just in German and English - but a lot of people are able to translate it.
If they wanna help, fine. if not, also fine.
I guess you haven't understood at all what this is all about. The page is a pure DIY thing.
If we would write something we would sell later, of course we would go the professional way and pay the people who translate it. but that's not how this is working.
