@ethan256@mas.to I do play trumpet, but trumpet and trombone are #3 & #4 after sax/clarinet and keys. So, not really a trumpet player :-(
Sigh. First the American toll war cuts my sales in half. Now the European toll war double my BOM costs. How the hell are we little guys supposed to make a buck. All of the downsides for the little guy AND the consumer and ... what's the point?

Also announcing versino 1.0.6 of the DWD, German weather service, app which adds the ability to organize stored locations and corrects location header displays for long place names. Exciting. Truly exciting stuff.
Both are built on github, dwd is live in chum, tooter is coming to chum and the harbour queue seems to be ....

I don't favour use of on-line LLMs using massive amounts of infra and energy. I don't favour using generative models for 'one-shot' solutions to non-existent problems. And I certainly don't think you can replace an engineer with an LLM. But the local models I run are unleaded. They are used sparingly and fed solar power from my roof. I don't need any excuses.

@b0rk@social.jvns.ca @penguin42@mastodon.org.uk I think you can sidestep the issue :-) I'm critical/cautious of LLM code generation and absolutely hate the company hype. On the other hand, I run llama (well, ollama & opencode now) with local models as assistants. Not for coding in the main but to spot stuff I miss, answer api questions. Like grep and less, there is no need to defend use of a tool. Just the cautions and maybe the advocacy for open models and tools.

@lisyarus@mastodon.gamedev.place for some examples, I wondered why floats, at all? A grid is not in need of floats. Neither is the passing of time. 1/4 of an hour is just a representation. 60 / 4 or 3600 / 4 also. I do use floats but as little as possible. In audio land, using floats just increases deps. Like, need fpu all of a sudden. My conventions, where time is concerned, all use the heuristic of Hz/cps and time becomes a counting issue. Probably missunderstood something.
