LMAO I applied for a role at a well-known and (I think) well-liked Python consultancy while at PyOhio... and I believe I failed the online personality test.
My #nbpy talk is now live, with many thanks to @andrew@fedi.aeracode.org and the whole @NorthBayPython@social.northbaypython.org team for getting these out so quickly.
This was the hardest talk I've ever had to write, and I hope people enjoy it:
“You removed my emotional support bug”
@baconandcoconut@freeradical.zone @ #NBPy
Can.. we make stickers of the “emotional support bug” for #PyCon? Would that be ok?
I really hope someone in the #python community is thinking about how to make Trusted Publisher work on something like @Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de 😬
Over the weekend I released
✨`orbpondering` ✨
A #python library for #astrology and #tarot
It uses the jpl ephemeris to generate a seed which it then feeds into the spread draw. Each bit is usable as a CLI and a library for your own purposes, under BSD-3

PRs welcome, boosts appreciated, CoC enforced 💫
There's a key technical problem over at @civicband@sfba.social. I have blogged about it, and would appreciate reads and shares.
It's the most #CivicTech and #OpenData problem I've ever worked on.
Sometimes you're casually adding new sites to @civicband@sfba.social and you add some city in #Massachusetts you've never heard of and then you've added 5000 more documents to the index 😂
The well of #CivicData is so deep and so wide and we've only started dipping our toes in.
I’m pretty sure @baconandcoconut@freeradical.zone just referenced the keen legal thinkers that have gone after @mjg59@nondeterministic.computer in their #NBPy talk
“Microsoft put cameras in my sofa how can you take their money?!?”
🤣
Hey, if you're going to be #scale23x, I'll be there exhibiting @civicband@sfba.social, the civic data / #OpenData nonprofit I've been working on.
It would be great to see you, please stop by!
If you just followed me because you saw my talk, you’ll probably enjoy:

The wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again, and this weekend I am heading to speak at @NorthBayPython@social.northbaypython.org.
While there, I'm going to raising money for the Golden Gate Bird Alliance by counting bird species in Petaluma.
You can support my team, the Aight Herons, with a flat donation OR (imo more fun) by pledging a certain amount per bird species I or we spot and identify.
Inspired by a talk I had with @BajoranEngineer@mastodon.online at #PyTorchCon, I've jotted down some thoughts about #Python as a scripting engine for apps.

Shares appreciated! Commentary welcome, but if you're a jerk I'll block you 😇
@freakboy3742@cloudisland.nz @glyph@mastodon.social @brettcannon@mastodon.social this is why I was asking about built python ✨
Also included: a thought on how @conda@fosstodon.org monetizes this 😅
Hey Security friends: Does git commit signing matter?
I feel like I don't see it used in production as much as I would expect, and I also don't see a big push on it from the wider sec community.
Do we care?
On a dusty street that you've never seen before, a glint in a window catches your eye. Your head turns, your feet start walking almost of their own accord.
"WANDERING SHOP" the sign says in faded golden letters over the window. The storefront doesn't seem to match the rest of the street, doesn't match the buildings next to it all, but you ignore this as an old man behind the counter inside waves at you.
You turn the claw-shaped doorknob, open the door, and step inside.
