@db0@hachyderm.io From your linked post:
As an experiment, the admin pass the user’s comment history through a locally-run open-weights LLM (Qwen) to see the summarized output. It happens to match their own decision.
In fact, your mod did use an LLM for moderation. The user's posts were ingested by an LLM. No sympathy for zionist trolls, but your own post confirms this

The TACO meme is liberal accelerationism
You have to live as if its going to be tomorrow, knowing it’s not. That’s the dilemma. You have to live as if it is going to be, but you have to realize it is not. And most people can’t do that. That’s a tough one. I learned to live this, but it’s not easy. Because most people want to think it’s going to be, that it’s there. And this can prevent people from acting, because it’s not there. But you cannot allow it to prevent you from acting. You have to act as if it’s there. And that’ll make it there. It’s not going to announce itself. It’s just going to be there. Or you’re going to wake up some day and it’s going to be there. And it will be because people lived as if it’s there. And they’re going to all wake up, and say ‘it is here!’, but you can’t think it’s going to be there. This is the ultimate dilemma. And we have to learn to live with it.
@db0@hachyderm.io I don't find these to be unreasonable questions. In fact, many of these "local" models are quite chatty if you actually take a look at what they're doing. They can and do connect. They're not being built by people who give a shit about anyone's privacy. LLMs, "local" or otherwise, are surveillance technology. They exist entirely as an outgrowth and extension of surveillance capitalism. It's good praxis to interrogate their possible introduction into fedi moderation tooling (spoiler: it shouldn't happen at all).
FWIW, I still think FediSeer was the best approach to horizontal blocklist compilation, by far. Far superior to all the centralized IFTAS-type shit we've endured since then. But the beauty of that approach is that it distributes the agency of human judgement in moderation decisions. We don't need solutionism to solve our moderation problems on the fediverse

Astronauts are trained for decades in some of the most physically and mentally grueling environments of any career. They’re some of the smartest people on the planet, and they have to be, before we strap them to 3.2 million pounds of jet fuel and make them do complex experiments and high-stakes decisions for days on end. And yet, once they get up there, fucking Outlook is borked.

Trump hosted Freedom Caucus holdouts at the White House on Tuesday, trying to close the deal. Democrats, meanwhile, were briefed Monday by two former senior Biden officials urging them to back the extension, according to a person familiar with both events.
