CrimethInc. Ex-Workers
mastodon 4.7.3+todonCrimethInc. is a rebel alliance—a decentralized network pledged to anonymous collective action—a breakout from the prisons of our age. We strive to reinvent our lives and our world according to the principles of self-determination and mutual aid.
We believe that you should be free to dispose of your limitless potential on your own terms: that no government, market, or ideology should be able to dictate what your life can be. If you agree, let’s do something about it. Ⓐ
Despicable racist murderer Kyle Rittenhouse, best known for murdering two people and shooting a third in 2020 because they protested against police murdering Black and brown people, is in the hospital, having been bitten by—wait for it—a Brown Recluse.
This guide shows how you can make giant spiders for parades.
On Mother's Day, we mourn Marie Ange Blaise, Renee Nicole Good, and all the other mothers who are no longer with us as a consequence of the cruelty and violence of ICE and Border Patrol.
Let's organize rapid response networks to defend our communities:
We've prepared a zine version of "Protecting Our Neighbors from ICE: A Do-It-Yourself Community Defense Skills Workshop Guide."

Why does the Trump regime specifically identify "anarchists and anti-fascists" as one of the "three major types of terror groups" in their 2026 "Counterterrorism Strategy"? Because they know there is no greater threat to tyranny than autonomous, decentralized, horizontally-organized direct action.
They are doing everything that they can to eliminate existing anarchist networks and models. We already see this in the Stop Cop City and Prairieland cases. But if you educate yourself in horizontal organizing and direct action strategies, they can't stop us all.
The Trump regime and other aspiring despots want to be the ones who tell you what anarchism is. Don't take their word for it. Learn about anarchism for yourself. The best parts of your life are already the most anarchistic—the egalitarian relationships and spaces of freedom. 🏴🏴🏴
Spanish antifascist prisoners celebrate their liberation from the Nazi death camp at Mauthausen with a banner reading “The Spanish antifascists salute the liberating forces” on May 5, 1945.
Among them is the anarchist Antonio García Barón, who fought in the Durruti Column during the Spanish Civil War.
The stakes are just as high today.
Protecting Our Neighbors from ICE
A do-it-yourself guide to community defense skills with which you can protect your neighbors from ICE and other federal mercenaries.
https://crimethinc.com/StopICETactics
Adapted from de-arrest tactics popularized by participants in protests against police, this guide outlines several strategies that community members can combine with rapid response networks, patrols, neighborhood hubs, and other yet-to-be-conceived models to protect our neighbors from abduction. Ideally, people who are working together to resist ICE should organize a one-hour community defense workshop to learn and practice these skills, using this material.
Today, it has been three months since ICE agents brutally murdered Alex Pretti.
Federal officials rushed to spread blatant lies, claiming that Pretti had assaulted ICE agents even though widely available video showed this to be false. They had spread the same lies about Renee Good when ICE agent Jonathan Ross murdered her two weeks earlier.
It's impossible to overstate this: the Trump regime wants to be able to murder you with impunity and lie about why they did.
We honor the courage of the demonstrators who immediately responded to Pretti's murder. Let's create a world in which mercenaries can neither kidnap nor murder members of our communities.
Trump has been rushed out of the White House correspondents’ dinner after reports of gunfire nearby.
Regardless of what really happened in Washington, DC tonight, the Trump administration will attempt to use this to call for more repression. Remember: anything you hear from anyone in the entire administration is likely a lie. That goes double for Kash Patel's FBI.
This is not the first time we have seen the Trump regime employ this tactic. They promote the gun industry, and then every time there is a shooting in their vicinity, they try to use it to seize control the way the Nazis used the Reichstag fire. Some Trump supporters have made this strategy explicit in precisely those words.
For background on how to prepare for repression:
Remember how last September, Trump announced that he would be cracking down on all opposition to fascism, designating it "terrorism"?
https://crimethinc.com/Safeguarding
If you are not personally experiencing repression yet, it is thanks to those—for example, in Los Angeles and Minnesota—who tied the administration down in other fights.
As Trump’s position weakens, he and his supporters will attempt more and more dangerous schemes to maintain their grip on power. They still have enough time to inflict a tremendous amount of suffering, both in the US and overseas. We should prepare for new rounds of repression, new assaults. This fight is not over.
In chess, once you become focused on defense, you have lost the game. To face down the administration, we need proactive strategies. Rather than reacting over and over, we have to choose the time and place of conflicts, tying up the resources and labor cycles that will otherwise be directed at us.
On May Day, anarchists in Portland participated in two black blocs, adding a confrontational edge to public protests. As rage against the economy and the government spreads alongside desperation and despair, it's up to us to create opportunities for collective action.
A happy May Day to all.
Anarchists march with banners in Portland and Greece; anarchists set fires in the streets in Bandung, Indonesia; anarchists confront the police in Chile.
The fight continues for a world free of all forms of oppression.

Ben Morea in Exarchia
A Eulogy and Paean to Freedom
https://crimethinc.com/BenMoreaExarchia
Ben Morea has passed away. Known for his participation in Up Against the Wall Motherfucker, the self-styled “street gang with an analysis” active in the Lower East Side of Manhattan in the late 1960s, he withdrew from the city and pursued a path into revolutionary animism. In this visionary eulogy, Tasos Sagris of Void Network recounts Ben’s subsequent visit to Exarchia, the Athenian neighborhood famed as a hotbed of anarchism.
Today, the Exarchia that Tasos describes has also changed. To mourn a single person is to mourn an entire vanished world. Yet, as Tasos explores, there is a silver thread that connects Ben’s life and the legacy of Exarchia to our own present and possible future.

A year ago, in solidarity with Palestinians, protesters courageously occupied the engineering building at the University of Washington, which is funded by war profiteers Boeing.
Anarchists defended them with a black bloc and burning barricades.
This is the energy we need.
It is important to remember that this occurred—above all, because the Israeli government continues to perpetrate genocide and ethnic cleansing in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon, but also because centrists have dishonestly claimed that protests in solidarity with Gaza halted when Trump took office. They didn't.
As the genocide continues today, it is important to continue to pressure war profiteers directly rather than hoping that politicians will put an end to it for us. They won't.
What We Want for May Day
https://crimethinc.com/MayDay2026
What do we want for May Day? In short, to take another step towards freedom from all forms of oppression—towards what we call anarchy, by which we mean egalitarian relationships based in self-determination, solidarity, and mutual aid. Anarchists have been central to May Day since its origins as a labor holiday in 1886, when police in Chicago attempted to suppress anarchist labor organizers who were fighting for right to the eight-hour workday.
Today, as intensifying authoritarianism propels more and more people into action, we have a window of opportunity to make real change. But what does a general strike look like in 21st-century capitalism?
We present some starting points and a handbill to promote them.
Now, between clashes with the stormtroopers of the Trump regime, is a good time to put the pieces in place to be ready for the next round.
This guide equips street medics and health professionals to respond to some of the common injuries inflicted by police violence.
On January 23, over 300,000 people withdrew from the economy in the Twin Cities, carrying out a general strike to exert leverage against the ICE occupation.
Ahead of May Day, it's worth revisiting this example of how we can wield collective power—and what can hinder us from doing so.
https://crimethinc.com/2026generalstrikes
"We need a movement that cannot be held back or hijacked by any leadership, a movement that compels every aspiring vanguard to hurry after it, setting aside their squabbles and petty ambitions. That was what made the general strike of January 23 so powerful...
"The important question is whether an organizational model is reproducible, serving to empower whoever makes use of it to resist oppression, or extractive, serving to concentrate power in the hands of leaders."
As people prepare to strike for May Day, we recommend this text comparing the last two general strikes that took place in Oakland, California (in 1946 and 2011) in order to distill lessons about how to organize a general strike today:
http://crimethinc.com/twoGeneralStrikes
The conclusion summarizes what it takes to organize a general strike in an era of informal and precarious labor, emphasizing the need for grassroots organizing models that could connect people the way that the unions did in 1946 and the Occupy assemblies did in 2011.
Three years ago today, three anarchists were killed in battle with Russian forces in Ukraine: an American named Cooper Andrews, an Irishman named Finbar Cafferkey, and a Russian named Dmitry Petrov.
Dmitry had been corresponding with us, reporting on the resistance to the Russian invasion. After Dmitry was killed, his comrades revealed that he had been involved in some of the most daring anarchist initiatives in 21st-century Russia.
Here, we offer an overview of his efforts as a snapshot of the past two decades of struggle in the post-Soviet world:
Yet another shooting, this time in DC.
Centrists will provide cover for Trump by treating this particular shooting as a more significant tragedy than the tens of thousands of fatalities caused by gun violence in the US every year.
Whether they are motivated by fear or genuine concern for human life—dubious in view of the silence most of them maintained about the genocide in Gaza—the consequence will be to give the Trump administration and its supporters a free hand.
Remember, Trump and his henchmen are hastening into fascism as fast as they can. They have already scripted the scenes in advance. They are determined to make use of whatever opportunities arise, however far-fetched. The important question is whether others will enable them to do so.
The burning of the Reichstag in February 1933 enabled the Nazis to consolidate power in Germany only because other political factions responded to it by granting the Nazis emergency powers. The way to stop a Reichstag fire is not to attempt to control those who act in response to the violence of the state, but rather, to refuse to legitimize fascist initiatives or narratives under any circumstances.
Anything else is complicity, pure and simple.
As long as we think of success as an individual achievement rather than the thriving of our communities, we will remain isolated and alienated, like the billionaire sociopaths we seek to emulate.
Mutual aid transforms us, enabling us to act and dream together.
You who no longer dance in the street
Who have given up on winning
But not yet on giving in;
Have you made your peace with war?
Did they bribe you to betray
Your scorn for bribery and betrayal?
Would you seek accommodation
With the ones who broke your heart
And trade the bitterness of struggle
For the sour grapes of defeat?
