Kem Herkes (easily spooked edition)
This is my more introverted acount. I drink tea, collect puns, & write things. Energy level & attention span are variable, hair color is subject to change without notice.

These two goofs, they are so adorable.
We brought them to the vet in separate carriers, but they hopped out as soon as the doors were unlatched, investigated the room, then decided to both hang out together in the smaller carrier.
They're finally asleep. Maybe I can get some work done.
Hi, technology freedom hivemind. Way back when, I downloaded my kindle library, so I was able to save my azw3 & mobi files where Amazon can't disappear them, but...
I didn't have the spoons at the time to deal with convert them to epubs, and I have no idea how to convert them now. If they can be.
Can anyone point me at a NON-techie step-by-step? I have Calibre (pre-AI edition) , but I cannot make any of the plugins work for me.
I guess can just keep reading in the app. 😢
(boosts welcome)
*I* want to get my minimum weekly blog update written and posted.
Gray the kitten wants to write it for me in a language of random letters, punctuation and numbers.

It's time for a Murderbot series reread.
Okay, sure, I'd rather read the new one, but 150 other people have requested the ebook at my library and the library can only afford 3 copies of it thanks to So I will meet my Murderbot cravings some other way.
Plus let's face it, it's *always* a good time for a Murderbot read.
#WritersCoffeeClub 17 May: If you work exclusively digitally, could you work by hand?
I *could,* but *would* I? Doubtful.
Look. I don't think linearly. Getting ideas arranged in ways other people can follow is nearly seamless with a word processor. Doing it by hand takes massive additional amounts of time, effort, paper, and ink. Rewriting pages and pages of material pasted together with arrows & stars just to get a draft steals all the joy from putting dreams into words.
Heard in conversation today:
"Interrogation is his love language."
"Are you going to put that line in a book?"
"I am now."
The cat is past the worst of his illness, the extra-work week for this month is done, and everything around the house is back to normal after the month's assorted smol crises. And I haven't fallen too far behind on creative maintenance while all the disruption was going on.
So I may have enough time, organization, AND focus to make proper story progress this week.
Here's hoping I didn't just curse myself.
RE: @FrogAndToadBot@goose.directory
Oh, no. It's me. I am Toad.
Scribes & Makers Q for 6 May: Ghoti (fish) is a word created to demonstrate the odd pronunciation variations in the English language. Create a word of your own or share one you've created.
I'm a fan of "isn't English weird?" memes but ghoti hits me like nails on a chalk board. It's just...no. *kicks soapbox back under desk*
ANYway.
I love conlangs, but I can't think of any words I've created. (pretty sure there must be some) Mainly I repurpose existing words for slang.
Today's "dealing with sick cat" observation:
it's a PITA to pill a 20 lb cat--antibiotics taste noxious. But it turns out it's even more of a PITA to dose a cat with a liquid antibiotic so "irritating" it dissolves the numbers off the oral syringes.
So we're back to pills. I'd rather wrestle a pill down my furbaby's throat and follow that with a syringe of nice, tasty water than watch him gag stinky, noxious oil all over his chin for half an hour after every dose.
I have finshed the utter diaster of a dumpster fire TV series that was La Brea.
Wow. Just...wow. I am gobsmacked the show ever got renewed even once.
It was not merely bad, it was Bad Movie bad.
I'm not sure even another Asylum Productions 3 movie bingewatch can surpass La Brea's sheer volume of plot WTFery, absurd character development, AND wildly contradictory time travel elements.
Did I enjoy it? Oh, hells, yes. Was it *good*? Hell no.
Today's book promo: My First Series.
It's science fiction, but the friendly kind.
Heroes beaten down by the new order team up to save a philanthropist targeted for assassination bc he wants to change the system from within.
Hiinks ensue.
2 novels, a novella duet & a wee prequel.
