When Microsoft 365 Copilot Cowork needs to create an Excel file, it uses LibreOffice - not Excel.😏
The actual process seems to be: Claude agent calls openpyxl (Python library) to generate the file. Then, the headless soffice of LibreOffice is used to validate the output. Finally, the user is shown a file in Excel for the web.
It makes perfect sense, given how Anthropic built Cowork and Microsoft just licensed it from them.
When administering Power Platform, all you need is 2Pac + Big Mac.
There's a great community database of these and more Microsoft short URLs right here: https://akams.fyi
It's not just a new icon, or a renamed mobile app. Microsoft 365 Copilot is dead, as a product name. At least MS has started scrubbing away the "365" part from their materials.
Their hero business product for 3 years, now getting rebranded with the name of Microsoft Copilot consumer product with even less adoption...

The Onion can soon do the funniest thing: having a bigger circulation than WaPo, owned by billionaire Jeff Bezos.🖕
As for the Infowars IPR, things are clear:
“Business plans? Not really. Comedy and fuck-you plans? Definitely, yes.”🫠
"Ensin oli konsulttiselvitys vanhasta järjestelmästä luopumisesta. Sitten oli konsulttiselvitys Apotin hankkimisesta. Sitten oli konsulttiselvitys Apotin käytön ongelmista. Ja nyt on konsulttiselvitys Apotista luopumisesta. Sitten tulee konsulttiselvitys Apotin korvaavasta järjestelmästä."
Apotti on lahja, joka jatkaa antamistaan - konsulteille.

As expected, nothing fancy yet (no Mermaid support, for instance). I really hope MS keeps working on this and doesn't just settle for a "ticked the box" version. We shall see.
Every middle-aged white male should have one of these shirts, right? Well, now I fixed that.✅
I vividly remember Fear Of The Dark being played on repeat at the summer camp when I was 15yo. While I ended up deep in the world of electronic music, I've still got a few Iron Maiden albums in my collection. And the "Live in Helsinki 1992" version of the title track is of course the best one ever!🤘
Are you using Power Platform Dataflows still? I was, too, but it's time to figure out an alternative instead of wishing they'd ever become governable, nor support proper ALM. Another dead feature in Microsoft's evergreen cloud: https://www.perspectives.plus/p/i-see-dead-features-dataflows
"Microsoft has intentionally broken a fundamental assumption about how files are stored on a computer running Windows. They do this without asking the user, and without adequately explaining what they have done. Microsoft is very obviously employing dark patterns in order to goad its users into paying for Onedrive storage."
More speakers in the office.🔊 After 2 years of rocking my 2.1 setup of Klipsch RP-500M + 12" subwoofer R-121SW, I decided to go 4.1 and grab a pair of R-51M's from an outlet.
This €1k set of #Klipsch audio gear packs a mean punch. I plugged it to my Onkyo amp from 15y back and it's a nice audio upgrade for the Niiranen Advisory Oy office space.👌 I ditched my small Presonus monitors used for Teams calls and just surrounded myself with proper sound all around.
Because music matters.
TotalRecall Reloaded, 2026 edition.
"Breaking Windows Recall. Again."

"After review with their engineering teams, MSRC determined that "the behavior observed operates within the current, documented security design of Recall" and that "the access patterns demonstrated are consistent with intended protections and existing controls.'"🤷♂️
If Copilot really is "for entertainment purposes only", then it should be advertised like this.🍿
Celebrating 1+ years since users of M365 Office tools have been redirected to M365 Copilot chat UI by force. The digital equivalent of eyelid clamps.😬
(No, the poster is not GenAI, just copy-paste & font generators, thanks for asking.)
From "THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING!" in August 2025 to a delayed rollout to be started December 2026:

I checked what the status of the COPILOT() function in Excel was today. Here's my Shocked YouTube Face after reading this:

A nice bonus of starting to live in the Windows Terminal is that I picked up a useful habit: Running "winget upgrade --all" to keep my s**t up to date.
I know all you Linux geeks have been using package managers for ages. Also, I did know about WinGet before, sure. Yet before using CLI coding agents, I had very little reason to open the terminal. Now, I leverage Codex to keep track of my software and OS updates in Obsidian and it fits nicely into that workflow.
I have built a thing!🥳 Or actually, I have built a V2 of a thing that existed in a different format: https://releaseplans.net/
Instead of the earlier Power BI report, you can now browse Power Platform and Dynamics 365 release plan items in a modern web experience. Data is pulled from Microsoft's API once a day, just like before.

"Hi, would you be interested in getting shot in the face?
Reason I ask - we can help you get shot by our community of 75K shooting professionals.
We’ve worked with 20+ 7-figure businesses to add an additional 6-figures/mo primarily through strategic shot placements in the facial area."
"Copilot’s agentic capabilities in PowerPoint are now GA!"🥳

And here's the output I got when asking Copilot in PowerPoint to do an introduction of my company. It spent 10 minutes on research, produced one title slide and said "here's a clean company intro."😂
Last Train to Plancentral. No more release plans or waves for Microsoft Power Platform after 2026 RW 1. From now on, everything will be merged to what used to be called the Microsoft 365 Roadmap.
As one might expect, I have some thoughts to share on this:
https://www.perspectives.plus/p/the-last-release-wave
Ever had to answer the question "What's included in Copilot Chat without the premium M365 Copilot license?"
Yeah, it's tricky.😅 Microsoft's own materials are either out of date or too tiny to zoom into.🧐 So, I took their latst materials and created my own comparison slide.
There's of course a lot more to #Microsoft365 and #Copilot licensing than can fit into a 2D table. I wrote more about the latest #CopilotChat #softwarelicensing changes in The Licensing Guide blog:
