@emilymbender I just had this happen and since I didn’t have a reasonable way to refuse I wrote on the consent form: “I reserve the right to hold medical professionals responsible for mistakes made by AI tools. It is your duty to double-check AI output to ensure that it is correct.”
They actually accepted this.

A decade later, said creator has a psychotic break and messy public meltdown.
I’m sure it’s just coincidence, but I can’t help seeing a parallel to semantic ablation in LLMs and LLM psychosis.

@neauoire@merveilles.town Elevated levels of CO₂ are bad for cognition, but the sustained levels where you start to see cognitive effects (above around 1200 ppm) would be historically absolutely unprecedented and would result in catastrophic global warming (RCP8.5-level, 3.0℃ to 12.6℃.
So, we’ll have to find some other way to inflict massive cognitive damage on ourselves—preferably more than one way.

@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange Where I live in the Pacific Northwest they’re plentiful enough that the crows consider them a nuisance and have a rapid-response team set up to harass them out of the area if they venture up here rather than sticking to the coast where they belong. (It’s not just bald eagles; any raptor gets this treatment. But the crow/eagle size difference makes for hilarious spectating.)

@CoolerPseudonym@wandering.shop I would say that toki pona is anti-hyperrationalist; it’s meant (I’d argue) to require expanded semantic range and metaphorical speaking. It’s polysemous in the way the world actually is and in the way hyperrationalism assumes the world is not.
But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a coping mechanism, or that it wasn’t a contributor. (And at the same time this is a very Babel-17 position I wouldn’t have seriously entertained before the advent of LLM psychosis.)
