@screwturn@mastodon.social As a fellow old dude, this is the only point I even partially disagree with. Lean muscle mass is incredibly important as you get into your 50s and beyond for injury prevention and staying active. Don't get fit to be tough or "alpha." Get fit to keep enjoying your life.

@Daojoan@mastodon.social Yes, but at the same time it's the author's job to get me to relate to a character even when they are very much not like me. I will never be a powerful wizard, a private investigator, or a noble lady seeking a husband. Good writing will turn on the empathy machine anyway.
