Natürlich ist es gut was sie machen.
Es bleibt uns Menschen ganz allgemein ja nichts anderes übrig als weiter rudern.
Gleichzeitig haben wir hier in den Sh***hole countries aktuell leider ganz andere Probleme und Kolumbien gleich vorne weg. What we are witnessing is a generational struggle and a world wide struggle around the issue humanism.
There is no difference between the attack of human rights inside the US and by the US internationally, the destruction of the UN, and the list goes on.
In others words, if you give in to the reactive behavior of "me and my community", and the rest of us does the same, we all will loose more, maybe more than we are even able to envision right now.
Yet if we realize the real scope and that they initialized an attack on all fronts, on too many fronts, than we might be able turn this into a standard "two steps forward, one step back".

I'm not against evolving ideas and use cases.
Ultimately this is about adoption and protecting everyone, the normal people who have nothing to hide, democracy and privacy itself.

Jene die jedoch die Kurve höchst wahrscheinlich nicht mehr kriegen und wirklich selber zu echten Faschisten werden, das ist noch nicht ganz ausgemacht, würde ich mal sagen (oder möchte ich mal hoffen) können wir wahrscheinlich an ein bis zwei Händen abzählen und ich kann und will sie nicht bei der SPD sehen (wahrscheinlich).

.. heute ist es schlicht und ergreifend zu spät.

I think @delta are merely trying to solve the #SelfHosting problem more elegantly for smaller groups.
In my perception in the beginning @delta@chaos.social was about mass adoption of encryption for the commoners on the email level.
That was a task as important as the S in HTTPS.
Right now they are catering to a community of the 0,001% of anti Vladimirovich freedom of speech hackers that probably fill up there stream and bubble to 99,9% cheering as loud as they can.
They lost track of the initial main goal, got lost in the the maze of options of their own rabbit hole and missed the most important detail of the already mentioned onboarding process. That comes before releasing the rescue boats on the sinking titanic.

I think it was more about not wanting to moderate and esp. not wanting to comply with anti-hatespeech requirements ..
Ultimately most likely all of the above.
At the same time, my consideration is that most things are not only black and white, and for some reason the saying "the road to hell is plastered with a shit load of good intentions" goes a long way.
It is reasonable to consider that initial ideas and ideals are and remain deeply rooted in people. At the same time, not only every one is corruptible by money and power but also extortionable. Everyone. And if you think you are not vulnerable to extortion, well, think again about your feelings, your personal experiences in life, if their are "things" that are precious to you or you fell responsible for ..

Der Subtext das der CDU ihren Angela den Begriff Neuland geprägt hat und dementsprechend durchaus Entwicklungshilfe gebrauchen könnte obwohl das unnötige Liebesmühe ist weil die so oder so immer nur Versuchen auf irgend eine Art und Weise Ansatzlose Massenüberwachung auf Deibel komm raus durchzusetzten weil ihnen sowohl die Würde des Menschen als auch der Respekt vor dem Volk, also ihr Wahlvieh, am Allerwertesten vorbei geht? 🤔

For me it looked like the back door interference with free speech in the arab spring made the twitter guru realize that only decentralization could lead to real free speech that ultimately has the goal of "power to the people".
The problem is that "power to the people" means being able to let loose in the first place, and for some (strange) reason there sleeps a Frodo in all of us (apparently).
So, sitting at the same ALL IN table in the restaurant at the end of the silicon valley one way street just makes you hear and feel the same things and vibes again and again, until they become true.
