What I remember from the Bicentennial in 1976. My family threw our bikes into our Chevy van (no seatbelts or car seats of course) and went down to the shore in the town we lived in. We attached paper Red White and Blue streamers to our bikes with tape and biked around. We watched the parade, they threw candy at us kids on the sidewalks.

A slightly non-traditional view of tonight’s Sail Boston fireworks reflected on a building on Fan Pier / Pier 4. #boston #fireworks #sailboston

Tomorrow (Sunday, April 19, 2026) is the first MIT swap of the year. This is an electronics flea market/hamfest held at MIT inside of a parking garage every month during the non-winter months. It cost $6 to enter ($5 if you print out a PDF from their website.) lots of retro computing, Arduino, ham radio, general electronics, and associated fun stuff https://w1mx.mit.edu/flea-at-mit/ #electronics #cambridgema #mit #hamradio

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org pancakes the day before, and then had my neighbors over for French toast and coffee after we shoveled for a couple hours during the blizzard.

I have discovered a truly marvelous proof of this, which this context window is too narrow to contain.

And to close out this thread (unless I find more cool photos later) a picture of what I came home with. I spent 10 bucks on an Apple ADB cord to revive an old machine I have, and the rest were from various free boxes, including a TV antenna of some sort, a composite to HDMI adapter and a tiny radio speaker

@neilvandyke@mastodon.online I just eat them like a burrito, dipping the end in the wasabi/ soy sauce but my wife like hers cut up. I don’t like how they get squished when cutting (I probably could do something to make the nori less rubbery )

@GamesMissed I've seen that also. The new old stock ADB cord for $10 couldn't be beat though!! Still need to rustle up a printer cable for a StyleWriter II and a adb mouse but I'm in no rush!

@cadair I think when the Fediverse gets over-explained, it turns people off, the main thing for the radio club is that it’s a Twitter like communications channel that is popular and open source. My thought is you don’t need to run your own server or have to explain any other nuts and bolts just that it’s a social media channel that people can sign up for and your club can have a presence that’s great for announcements, news, and blog like items

@jef@mastodon.social I wonder if we could make a computer that shows lovely images until it crashes, and then and only then, would show you a Spreadsheet.
