@nileane I really with Apple would get over themselves and their obsession with running lean and almost exclusively in-person. There should be so many more Swift engineer roles on account of Apple hiring more people to improve their software. Like I understand trying to avoid getting so big you become unwieldy, but clearly the current setup is more than strained.

@sommer That is fascinating! Because my experience is almost always the opposite: I can speak and read fine but trying to listen to people speak is a nightmare.

@marlies Oh my goodness that sucks. Sorry to hear you’re having to deal with that. Any chance the drives are still under warranty? I know in the US at least most SSDs have 2-5 year warranties.

@marlies Hm, yeah I suppose there might be that sort of shenanigans. I have had companies like Seagate accept reports from Linux successfully (had a bad drive or two in my NAS). But YMMV on that of course depending on the company.

Also FWIW there is a feature like this on macOS and I tried it for migraine reasons but it does such weird stuff when playing video that I turned it off.

@jeffreykuiken@mastodon.social I can’t properly remember the exact macOS feature right now (and I couldn’t find it in Tahoe Settings 🤪). I thought it was an HDR display toggle of some kind, and it is occurring to me now that it might only be a thing for external displays/headless desktops but that is in a different room right now.
And it did technically work it just made videos look shadowed/too dark sometimes on things like Youtube videos. Like is there was sunlight in a video game trailer all of a sudden the screen would darken.
