luckly a lot over there is linux but there's a win11 laptop. i've not had to interact with it in a while but it is an absolutely predatory environment. i was shocked at the amount of ads and dark patterns in place. i've always known it's bad but i didn't know it was like.. that bad.
also the user is glued to office and i dunno if you can even get office offline anymore? they hate libreoffice with a firey passion.

just had a new portable monitor arrive from scamazon. it smells like office depot when i opened the box and i was slammed with a wave of nostalgia stank.
i tried out #wallabag and #koreader on my kobo to replace #instapaper and the stock interface. i really didn't care much for it. at least i know i have an option if #kobo ever enshittifies. i still need to pick up a new kobo, though. the battery on this one won't make it much longer.

enjoyed using elisa for my mp3/flac files but it's got a weird bug on gnome for me so i've been using strawberry. it's not perfect but it gets the job done.
after using webamp for fun on archive.org i would really like to try to use audacious again with the winamp skin. i just wish it had the ability to load and search my entire library.
today, as i manage a pile of unrelated projects, i kinda miss the big fat virtual workspaces of #fvwm and #vtwm sure i can go left and right in #gnome to pop in full workspaces but it's not as fun as sliding around to any position i want.
i have a feeling that running one of those old window managers would be a real pain on #wayland (plus i'm running #bazzite so it'd be super opinionated i think).

just gave #vivaldi another shot because of the 8.0 upgrade and it was fine until i needed to log into several google/microsoft accounts for my clients simultaneously. my forever problem.
chromium browsers require separate profiles for this. each profile requires individual setup and will not sync settings. #firefox container tabs are my only solution and firefox is becoming more and more unusable.

bummer, yet another site that won't play nice with #firefox today. i wish i knew why the experience was degrading. extensions don't seem to affect anything.
#firefox is becoming increasingly more unstable for me and that makes me pretty sad. constant freezes plus cloudflare verification loops across a number of operating systems and chipsets. both fresh installs and installs full of extensions.
I am not ready for the monumental effort it's going to require me to switch to #vivaldi or #brave

I've been going back to #physicalmedia (and drm-free offline media) myself. I don't know if it's because I'm searching for that stuff or if there really is a wave of it but I see a lot of younger folks online talking about it.
the privacy is nice but there's something about having a thing that you can use how you like that's so nice. digital or physical.

after seeing the uk age verification on #PlayStation and the 30 day DRM controversy from them, I'm a little bummed that I started collecting for the #ps4 and #ps5. the devices also double as my #bluray player.
I really didn't want to lean into PC #gaming because it felt less permanent than #physicalmedia. maybe that's the direction I'll end up going, though.

powered up the #switch and re-jinected the #cfw because i wanted to try gyro aiming with #daemonxmachina . i still really dislike the switch as a platform but i enjoy the #crkd nitro deck+ very much.
sometimes i feel like it's an awkward controller but most of the time i feel like it's near perfect. it could use a couple of minor refinements but it's certainly better than my #rogally z1 extreme's control setup.
