I decided to put both loop antennas in series, and funnily the current draw is larger than with either antenna (or both in parallel).

Built a second, 90° rotated antenna and the tendency is clear. Let's wait for the evening.

@fesix@chaos.social Back in 2003 "Altes Europa" was "Unwort des Jahres" since Rumsfeld used it as a derogatory term for countries who didn't want to join the US in the Iraq war.
I guess you must have been there.

@cmb@cathode.church I'll have to set up a VM to install KiCad 10 in it (I'm definitely the opposite of an early adopter), but then I'll have a look.

@Hoonse@chaos.social if the board doesn't work on its own, but requires soldering wires to it (or connecting a cable the user has to manufacture themselves) it's a kit and you don't need to do full CE certification. You still need to register it with an e-waste service provider (look up WEEE).

@azonenberg@ioc.exchange @tom_verbeure@mastodon.social @whitequark@social.treehouse.systems @M0KHR@mastodon.radio @datenwolf@chaos.social My first computer was a second hand 386SX20 running MSDOS 5.0 in 1994. I quickly upgraded the 1 MB of RAM to 4MB and installed a Mitsumi FX001(S). It was basically a DOS machine, even if it had Win 3.1 installed. I was never much into gaming but rather wrote programs in assembler using debug.exe (Ralph Brown's Interrupt List FTW).
First new machine was a K6-266 with Win98 in 1998 (but still no games, Winamp, DivX and the like...)

@Mrfunkedude@mastodon.social I will boost whatever I find boostworthy. I will not boost something just because I enjoy it.

@lp0_on_fire@social.linux.pizza @futurebird@sauropods.win Yeah, that's something very American. Also here in Germany, you go to university, you make your bachelor degree, you make your master degree, you make your PhD, you leave university.
I also never understood what's the difference between college and university. But I learned that a "community college" is what you would call a trade school elsewhere (e.g. a "Berufskolleg" in Germany).

@oz1lqo@techhub.social My FT-897D has the N socket right next to the SO socket, if you try to mate a PL connector blindly, accidents may happen...
I have a N-to-SO adapter permanently installed to avoid such errors.

@vk2bea@mastodon.radio That would be wild since those are spectra, not time domain. Real and imaginary part of a spectrum have no practical meaning. (A real-valued signal transforms into a complex valued spectrum with conjugate symmetry, means a BPSK and even an analog AM has a complex valued spectrum.)
