@luckytran@mastodon.social the problem with gun control is that nobody makes any money off of it. Figure out a way to make gun control short-term profitable for hucksters and it'll get implemented super quick

@mekkaokereke@hachyderm.io I suspect the white folks that clap back at you don't like it bc they don't like the implicit responsibility they have for their people and want to try to shirk that responsibility
People of color have a responsibility to survive. White people have a responsibility not to kill you, and to stop other white people from killing you.

I played MLB: The Show with my GF's kid tonight, and they have an individual player mode where you work your way up through the minors to the majors, and you go into training sessions and stuff. You also see the player in the hotel room sitting on his bed, and he can check his phone for messages.
Me: what else can you do in the hotel room?
10 year-old: I dunno
Me: can you play videogames in the hotel room? Can you play MLB: The Show inside MLB: The Show? How many levels down does it go?
10 year-old: you're confusing!
Standing in Chipotle, and some dude honestly says:
> I want a quesadilla with rice and meat inside it
And the poor worker sounded very confused bc the dude described a burrito lol
And then the guy gets a burrito, unrolls it, and is eating it with a fork out of the tortilla like it's a taco salad 🤯

@mergesort whenever people ask me about my favorite thing about Japan, I always say: it's a functioning society
I was raised in an Ethical Humanist congregation, and continue to raise my kids there. I've never believed in the supernatural, and I never had to deprogram myself, so I don't think my atheism is noteworthy.
I've also never been interested in the Atheist Industrial Complex: Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, et al.
If you deprogrammed yourself, were these folks helpful in that journey?
If you enjoyed them at some point, what was the appeal?
(I enjoy dunking on the evils of religion as much as the next person. It ultimately seems like clickbait/ragebait tho)

@davedelong@mastodon.social @cocoaphony@mastodon.social I guess I should also ask how you measure best-in-class. Xcode was always the best looking IDE, and its performance monitoring and leak detection tools are indeed very good to maybe best. I never did any OpenGL or Metal development, so I can't judge it on that basis.

@ellenich@techhub.social @grantjbutler@hachyderm.io it's Apple's fault by allowing it. Apple doesn't provide the API but won't reject apps that build their own API. Apple could even do this outside of app review by simply requiring apps to affirm in a legally binding agreement that they don't track this data.
Replying to
@grantjbutler@hachyderm.io @ellenich@techhub.social it's Apple's fault they exist. If Apple would let companies track content exfiltration, this wouldn't be a thing. It's similar to how it's stupid to limit crash reporting when apps can do their own.
