Pure bliss.
They always say that pet loss hits differently.
When Zoe suddenly fell ill, we did everything we could, but we lost her on this day, 2 years ago, for complications caused by an undetected infection.
My heart stopped, life became heavy.
She was my soul dog. She was kind, loving, always happy.
2 years passed, but I still miss her. Every day.
I just wanted to remember her, today, and let the Fediverse know that she was such a good girl.
As every dog is.

Finally! I have received my new #Fairphone 6, today, and I will start a new journey with /e/OS, leaving Android for good.
I am so excited to be able to try it and support this amazing project, and doing my part for a more sustainable world.
Any advice for a good photo app? I love taking pictures with my Huawei and would love to keep going with my Fairphone as well.

I hiked several times to Lago Federa in the #Dolomites. It's one of my favorite places ever.
But I rarely had the chance to witness the overlapping of autumn and winter in such a beautiful way.
This was taken in November 2023. It snowed the day before, but larchs were still red, so the result was the beautiful Becco di Mezzodì framed by blue, white and red.

Vaia, for us, was a tragedy.
It hit hard in 2018, devastating our region, destroying our forests and causing fatalities.
When you hike in the #Dolomites you still see the scars: fallen trees, devastated valleys, and the European spruce bark beetle that came after the storm and that's eating our trees.
There's an artist, here, that has created sculptures using the wood of the trees that have been cut by Vaia.

I lately find myself less eager to share my life online.
I do it when I feel like it. I share my hikes but I don't feel like I "have" to. It's just natural and I don't feel bad if I don't share everything.
The Fediverse has changed me for the better.
I detoxified from mainstream social media, and I have never felt better.

Today I should have been hiking, but stress and burnout sometimes demand rest.

Today I'm working on organising our backpacks, making lists of what we need to buy and planning our meals.
I think I can state that this feeling of joy when planning a trekking is universally shared among hikers: I can't wait to be back on the trail!

Last year I started sharing our plan for the #Kungsleden on Instagram. This year I want to start anew on #Mastodon.
We hiked from Abisko to Nikkaluokta, and this summer we'll cover from Nikkaluokta to Kvikkjokk. Planning takes some time, for us, as we'll be 4 people... and 3 dogs.
We'll travel from Italy to Sweden by train, so the planning starts now, in February, by booking all the night trains up until Kiruna.
But I can't wait to be there again.

Yesterday I attended a conference in my home town: the topic was "The new map of the world".
It was... Hard. I knew that our society is at a turning point. I am aware of the troubles. But hearing them out loud was another thing.
Journalists talking about being worse before being better. About an EU with so many challenges ahead.
I faced the inevitability of this historic period.
I honest don't know if I'm ready. But I guess we'll see.

I have been feeling awful for weeks.
Anxiety at peak levels.
Sudden bursts of tears.
Inability to do my job, take care of our dogs, or enjoy hiking.
A friend of ours shared this article, and now I know why. It's not a good thing, but I know the origin of my sickness. And it helps.
I hope it might help others, too, that are struggling like I am.

Once you start writing down all the weight of the gear you want to take with you, you realize how much useless stuff you can leave home. Also, if you're planning on sleeping in huts, you don't need a big backpack. I hiked with 30lt (I will upgrade it to 35 this year because of the dogs) and I had plenty of space.

You're not the only one 😊 I'm almost 50 (it seems so strange to say it out loud, now), I hike in the Dolomites and I'm planning with my partner and some friends to go to the Kungsleden in Sweden for the second time. And we'll bring our dogs as well, so extra weight, too!

About your last question, I mainly hike in summer, during winter I prefer to do daily hikes with the local alpine club, as the risk of avalanches is always high here and I don't venture alone.

My partner is into hiking but not into ferrate, which is a thing I love to do, so I know the feeling of planning solo hikes. They're so beautiful, though. All that time by yourself and in the silence of the hike is refreshing, sometimes 😊
