Found a quiet little corner to let Amsterdam slow me down for a while. Just sunshine, blue skies, green trees, and absolutely no urgent plans. Sometimes the best adventure is sitting still and smiling at the view.

I'm not sure what it is - calm silence, soft sound of water lapping against the kayak hull or feeling close to nature, being able to observe birds and insects in their natural environment, but I find paddling incredibly relaxing. Several hours on water feels like minutes leaving all the stress behind. It is similar to the feeling I sometimes get with mindfullness meditation, but it's stronger and the effects last longer.

Happy #SilentSunday, friends of #BSDCafe, #illumosCafe, and the whole #Fediverse!
May the peace of this view bring calm to this day.
Alone or in good company, that bench is there for you.

Update for 2026: the stream that is wonderfully relaxing (Puffin cam
)
The National Trust: "The day has finally arrived. You can now officially watch puffins live from the Farne Islands, 24 hours a day"

The screenshot is one I took at dawn, last year (bonus, if you use Duckduckgo browser it will load in DuckPlayer mode)
