I love reading what other hikers/backpackers pack for their hikes, but would love to read what other women bring. My feed seems to consist of mainly male hikers, but I would love to connect with more female hikers (especially those who are a bit older). Sometimes I feel like I'm the only woman in her late forties to do longer hikes which cannot be the case. I follow the #walking, #hiking and #backpacking hashtags but maybe I need to follow other hashtags.
I'll post my own packing list for my upcoming trips (Netherlands in April and Norway in summer) when I get closer to my trip date. Meanwhile, if you're a woman over forty doing multi-day hikes, please say hi!

I love #hiking and especially multi day hikes. Sometimes with my youngest son, sometimes alone. Sadly work and family commitments mean I can't go out hiking as much as I'd like.
Other interests include #travelling, #reading, #crocheting, watching #Kdramas and learning Korean.
Between getting on top of my Lyme disease and the heatwave I haven't worked out in two weeks and I miss doing the stairs. I can't believe I'm actually saying that but I finally found exercise I like and can stick with so I really don't want to let it slide. I'll be back at it tomorrow, today I did yoga which was also very much needed.

My son's potential work placement fell through so I'm hoping the fediverse can step up and help me out.
My 16yo son is looking for a work placement in an engineering company. Mechanical engineering would be preferable as he is planning on studying that in uni. He's a smart and dependable first year college student studying math, physics and electronics. He's predicted to get triple As, is very academic but also likes the practical side of things.
He's looking for a work placement from 8-10 July (3 days total) in the UK. We live in Hampshire but he's willing to commute for a meaningful work placement. I'm even willing to book a hotel room for a good work placement anywhere else in the UK.
Please boost for wide reach. Thank you!
Edited to clarify it's only for 3 days.
Hurray for trekkers tents! I was able to pitch my tent in the garden (just the inner mesh) and will be sleeping there tonight. The pug is joining me for a cool sleep. Much better than in the house.
This is me! I'm the friend! 😊
One thing I have to remember to do when we go to Norway is to take pictures. I'm terrible at taking pictures. Not only do I always forget, as I prefer to live in the moment, but whenever I do remember, I'm always disappointed as to how they turn out because I don't know what I'm doing. I'm not interested in pursuing photography as a hobby, but it would be nice to be able to have more beautiful mementos of my time hiking.
Does anyone know of any resources aimed at landscape photography for beginners? Just a few pointers would be good enough. As I said, I don't want to do it seriously, I just don't want to be crap at it anymore.

Question for those who have used the hut system in Norway: do you need to prebook the huts? We're going at the end of August and I'm getting conflicting information. Some websites say you can just show up and there will always be a bed for you and others recommend prebooking.
Also, how important is it to build in a contingency day in the planning? I'm confident we can do the route in the recommended 7 days but I'm not sure if I should be thinking of contingency in the case of very bad weather. Do the Norwegian mountains get a lot of bad weather in summer? I'm not talking some rain, I'm talking weather that will make it dangerous to be out in the mountains.
