Geffrey van der Bos

This boy is having a hard time getting adjusted to his new home.

Although their aloof nature, shiba are super sensitive to overstimulation. He’s always ‘on’, clingy, and fears even the most mundane things; like the sound our new electric stove makes.

Moving places is for a dog as much an adjustment as it is for us. It’s common and likely to pass in weeks to months with routine and gentle help.

What I’ve been told:
⁃ Most Shibas settle as they adjust; track progress over 4-6 weeks.
⁃ Use neutral voice or brief pats when he’s relaxed, not desperate.
⁃ Avoid petting on demand (no picking up/pawing rewards); redirect to play/training to avoid reinforcing neediness.
⁃ Build confidence: Lure into the scary room with treats/toys gradually; add exercise, consistent schedules.

But man, it does hurt to see him like this. #dogsofmastodon #dogs

EDIT: Clarification, we moved house. From a village to a city.

Whenever people say “I’ve got nothing to hide” I send them this list.

It’s not about hiding. It’s about the fact you are not aware of this data and don’t have access to it.

Ah sorry. You can't turn on that light. The bulb is updating.

When Julia draws, I write.

My mobile setup with  @ia@mastodon.online their Writer is excellent! I am missing a better, adjustable stand for the phone. Recommendations?
