@Sophie I miss the old days when stuff came with real print manuals. I have a calculator at home that is smaller than the manual that it shipped with.
Microsoft changed the way in Outlook that one schedules a recurring event.
Because fucking over the entire planet's productivity for a day is good for business.
Wait! Sugar isn't plant-based?

@jhx@mastodon.bsd.cafe I tried moving from xfce4 to KDE on FreeBSD and my console log was full of reports of baloo dumping core. I am unimpressed with the quality of KDE nowadays.

@annaleen@wandering.shop Congratulations! The nominations are all well deserved.
It will be very difficult to vote in several Hugo categories this year.

@invadersil lots of things are labeled "for entertainment use only" or "for novelty use only."

@mwl@io.mwl.io I do regularly see one in the parking lot of my university. I really hope it's a student

@sundogplanets@mastodon.social some days I think that a Carrington event might be good for us, when I'm feeling particularly cynical about all this technology

@mothninja@beige.party I have seen, in a state park in Arkansas, a large sign warning "Six have fallen to their deaths"

@adr right now I have a hotel reservation that ends on the morning on the 21st, and a train ticket for the same day. So, do I change both to stay for her performance or not?

@shadowspar My ex wanted to visit all the european named towns in ontario, but we never got around to it.

@shadowspar Now I kind of want to go on a road trip to visit Canadian TX, Ontario CA, New Brunswick NJ, and any other places we can find.

@ErikSTL @invadersil Well, we SHOULD be treating it as if it's for entertainment only. Because it has a history of getting important things wrong when deployed as part of an "enterprise business suite."

@ouropinions I picked the PERFECT time to join the patreon! 😔

@quinnanya "favorite"isn't exactly the right word, but in the 1930s, IBM Germany explicitly pushed computing machinery as a way to collate and identify "undesirables" (see, Shew, Ashley. 2023. Against Technoableism : Rethinking Who Needs Improvement. First edition. New York: W. W. Norton & Company, pp 89-92)

@djfiander@mastodon.social If this doesn't work. You can "enable advanced web interface" in Preferences -> Appearance and then pin columns for the hashtags that you want.

@b0rk@social.jvns.ca I kind of want to make a competing How DNS Works zine that just says,

@lauren@mastodon.laurenweinstein.org The law that privatized the former Crown Corporation Air Canada mandates that Air Canada must provide all services in both official languages, English and French. While a message of condolences is not a "service" per se, one of the pilots was in fact a French Canadian, so not honouring that is a problem.
Honestly, I'm a bit surprised that a uni-lingual anglophone got the job in the first place.

@lynnemthomas@wandering.shop I had to tell my credit card company to leave my compromised card active for a few more days because I was on a trip to the west coast when it happened, and I need to pay for my hotel!

@cstross@wandering.shop I mean, "green-hued nudity" is already probably far more common than one might suspect, even accounting for Rule 34.
