idk man, has the city considered actually fixing the potholes themselves

I'm not saying I have a great security mindset, but my first thought on this was "throwing some junk into your annoying neighbour's recycling bin seems like a great way to get them fined $500" 😅

watching Rs contemplate a bajillion dollar bailout for low-cost airlines...who are in financial trouble partly due to skyrocketing fuel costs
I simply would not have bombed the living shit out of the region that the rest of the world gets most of its oil from

some folks seem puzzled by the Air Canada + both official languages thing, and understandably so
as in, aren't they a private company? why do they have to operate in both English & French?
not quite 🙃
Air Canada used to be a crown corporation. when a deal was reached to privatize it, back in the 1980s, the gov't set out several conditions for that to happen. these are laid out in the Air Canada Public Participation Act:
https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/a-10.1/FullText.html
the most notable of these are:
• the company's headquarters must remain in Montreal.
• Air Canada is subject to the Official Languages Act. it must provide all of its services in both English and French, just as though it were a branch of the federal gov't.
so when people get upset about AC not providing services in both official languages, it's not just annoyance with a large company. it's seen as AC not upholding its end of the social contract that it signed in exchange for allowing its privatization.
false friends are funny sometimes. saw "détroit d'Ormuz" and thought wow, the Detroit of Hormuz, that would be a cool mash-up of a city 🥲
some real monkey's paw energy in this update on the Clinton fire lolsob
"Where the fire has crossed Highway 97, east of Clinton it is burning into an old burn scar, which is helping to decrease fire activity and behaviour as fuels are sparse."

I say this with the greatest respect for the people of IL-9, but: I shall be all too pleased when I never have to hear about your politics again 😅
mannnn not great when you find a security incident runbook that's like
# Scenario: Horse Escape
Remediation steps:
1. Close the barn door.
2. Admonish devs not to open barn door in future.
3. Mark incident as resolved.
it's kind of absurd that Northern Ontario is the second or third most scenic area of Canada *at best*, and it still looks like this. 🤩🏕️
regret to inform that this image is once again relevant, lol

slowly being driven mad by people suggesting tanker trucks to route oil around the Strait of Hormuz. it's like asking how many Honda Civics it would take to pack up Mount Everest and bring it to London. it's not practical and it isn't going to happen.
always somewhat smug when I can read a passage that machine translation screws up, lol 😏
mannn it's a real choice to try and claim you're not Maple MAGA, then pull this kind of elmu/DOGE bullshit
