You need a 1234 GiB GPU to run your program?
Let me play you the tiniest... #microcontroller breakout board!

The 10-cent CH32V003 microcontroller and a single capacitor make a complete breakout board. Honestly, I didn't even need the PCB. The capacitor could be soldered directly on the pins.

I flashed it with the #Arduino . Not so "Nano" in comparison! #ESP32 for scale.

And it has #Rust support!

My #bike chain got replaced today. It was new in February when I replaced the whole drive train. So even though I wiped and oiled it every week, that chain was worth only about 4-5 months... Maybe 2000km? 9-speed, if that matters. How often do you replace your chains? #biketooter #cycling #bicycle #fedibikes

Rapid #PCB #manufacturing . Turnaround time: about 3h. Yield: 67%. Minimum resolved spacing: 0.1mm, thinnest trace: 0.2mm. Minimum not resolved spacing: 0.25mm :S. Not pictured: days spent learning the craft, the simpler board with 7 failed attempts, the 3 or 4 really simple designs in between, the first attempt ever that worked flawlessly, pants stained with lye. #DIY #electronics #chemistry

#SSH be like:

> WARNING: connection is not using a post-quantum key exchange algorithm.

Dude, that's my #N900 with an OS from 2007. It's using #rsa and I had to make an exception in two places to even make you connect. On a private network.
#Quantum computers are the least problem here.

#codeberg theory: no #LLM projects.
Practice: your non-LLM experiments will likely not get booted (but may still).

> So while the following use cases are discouraged (similar to private repositories), they are likely to be tolerated in practice:
> Side projects and experiments with little resource usage
> Specific tools and custom scripts that would be unlikely to find a community anyway, even if they were not LLM-generated

I just met a cyclist on a long-distance 4000km ride. Sounds awesome! I'd do it!
Then I check the website and see the reality of digitally-burdened world:
Participants must install the official tracking app. What app? There's no word about it. I think it's safe to assume it doesn't run on #Linuxmobile .
Presumably, it needs online access that I'd have to buy – I cycle offline.
Participants must follow the track. Checking the map is what I hate most when #cycling...

You can use a buck converter as a buck-boost converter. As in, get negative voltage.
I just checked. On paper. And guess what? They are nearly identical. The schematic of one turns into the other.
The only difference is the negative side of the input capacitor.
Mind=blown.

There are application notes for how to reconnect your converter, but even they don't notice it's THE SAME TOPOLOGY! https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slyt286

@slint@fosstodon.org I'm not thrilled as the flat style makes interactive elements indistict (in the gallery example, list items have roughly the same style as the headers), but I get the need to simplify.

@thelinuxcast Almost fountain pens here. Mitsubishi Eye rollers glide just so amazingly nicely! I also have a pocket with all colors I could find (ask me when you see me at an event). At least the ink color selection is limited, or I'd have more. Actually, I could just fill one with yellow like I already did... https://dorotac.eu/posts/REing%20a%20pen/

Replying to
@dgkf@fosstodon.org The added value is that you cut the time to an acceptable solution. LLMs are general, so you don't need nearly as much effort to get something going. Apart from that, I see people using them in ways that can't be replicated by anything else today: giving advice and reviewing own work. Again, across knowledge domains.

Apparently there are people who get dusty from running even though less than half of them even run. Maybe it was to indicate shorter runs, but who knows? No one matching the pattern commented. Data collection is hard. #data #survey #statistics

Czy ktoś się wybiera na festiwal Conrada? https://conradfestival.pl/ Chcę przybyć na pierwsze kilka dni, fajnie byłoby się spotkać, a wykombinować nocleg to w ogóle :P

@dgkf@fosstodon.org Sure, but if the qestion is what is "better", then an approximation you can get *is* better than a structured database you don't have. Reviewing work is part translating the text/code into whatever question form perhaps, but it's mainly using a database of practices that no one has formalized to that extent to find an answer. Having access to that unstructured model *is* the selling point you just don't get otherwise.
