If you are going to try to suggest AI is okay because productivity or whatever I am going to need you to go read all 261+ sources on that website and sit with where that puts you for a while and then try to tell me straight faced it’s worth it.

I make it clear on the site but I’ll make it clear here too: I’ve (almost completely) read every single article linked under Sources, top to bottom, which has had an ongoing negative impact on my mental health and has put me in a place where I simply can not take “pro-AI” arguments in anything resembling good faith.
on the one hand i like the vibes of NIN/TR soundtrack work, on the other hand it's like i want all those soundtracks turned into actual tracks? listening to an album full of 90 second sketches doesn't...work, for me
anyway there's a new version of Tron Ares and I'm not sure this is exactly what I *want*—like the remix of Who Wants To Live Forever just started and how fucking *dare* you with this butchery—but it does feel more...listenable, generally, so far?

But at some point it’s just like, I can’t keep up. Even know I’ve got handfuls of links bookmarked or saved that I mean to read and find the right pull quote but it’s just too damn much. And I’ve got kids to raise and a day job to do and actual fun reading and lots of other stuff I’d like to do with computers that has nothing to do with AI.

I started the site in part just to have a … I call it a worry bead site and when I read the articles I push the worry bead onto the thread. And then you have a thread of all the links and they’re there to support, and to remember. To remember what the fucks have done out of selfishness and carelessness. To support the thesis, to support the reckoning I still optimistically hope some day to see come down.

So it’s like maybe at some point I just file links unread and hope to the heavens even that helps the cause in some small way. I don’t have billions of dollars but I do have a website and it’s not nothing I guess. But also I’d be lying if I tried to tell you there wasn’t a lot of despair on the other side of this screen right now.
