@mattly I used that phrase a-lot in 2023. I used it to justify my continued friendship with people who supported the most vile of persons to become the president of our country. Said person then proceeded to destroy every half infrastructure and turned this thing that used to pretend that it was a country -- into a dead country.
Now, I have come to realise that they supported him because they were told that they would be fixed into positions where the failings of his government would not touch them.
I thought them fools (which they remain, as the promises they were made stayed promises), but they were just monsters.

Any time news drops about a vulnerability being found in the Linux kernel, tech YouTubers begin pushing out videos with slop titles: "Linux is falling apart", "Is this the end of Linux?", and "Do not use Linux".
It is so fucking annoying, just as annoying as when the AUR issue happened last month. They all came out of the woodwork screaming "Do nOT UsE ArCH", and some even went ahead to uninstall Arch and swap to another distro because of it 😂.
The AUR issue was particularly funny and annoying to me because it was never supposed to be that loud; the AUR is the AUR. When I was searching for which distro to move to last year, everyone who told me to move to Linux said, "The AUR is dangerous, read the shell scripts and documentation before installing." Every Arch user knows that the AUR is supposed to be filled with buggy packages. Why then were these YouTubers crying?
It annoys me how people sell with panic. A panic that they induce.

I used to name my VM's when I launched them, last week I forgot to do it and I have been allowing incus to do the naming now.

instead of
`pbcopy .local/bin/get` 😂

TID: Finally achieved geometric peace in my Hyprland setup. Swapped to a centred master layout (50/25/25 split) to avoid my windows dancing around every time I open a reference terminal.
The maths just feels right.

I have looked at what humanity built in the name of the sacred and found it is mostly a very old cage with very good carpentry.

Though I like the idea of one tool-many-purposes ... I really do not advice giving power-drills to children.
@bms48@mastodon.social This is precisely my intended approach. Assuming an expectation of privacy on proprietary platforms is a logical error.

@cate@hachyderm.io Wasted (most say I used) 5 years 2021–25 studying biology. I am now taking Courses to pivot into DevOps.
And, I would absolutely tell my 18-year-old self the same thing. The command line is far more forgiving than the laboratory. Have a brilliant birthday next week!
