seedy!
Hi, I am Stu Hughes. I am 25 years old, #blind, #neurodivergent, and live in the Northeast of England. I am known online as The Cube, TwoThousandStu and DJ Seedy. I am a live DJ for World of Fun Radio (@wfr@tweesecake.social) and my shows include 2000s at Two and Hughes in the House. My personal brand is Seediffusion, a combination of Seedy, my old online handle, and Rediffusion, a historical television relay service in the UK.
Note: Stu Hughes is not my given name, it is a name I've chosen for myself as a replacement for my unwanted first and last name, which I never gave out online.
I love to play video games, especially retro games from the 90s and 2000s; my favourite genre is fighting games, especially #StreetFighter! I basically love anything from the 2000s; it's my favourite decade.
I like many different types of music, including heavy metal, EDM, Hip-hop, eurobeat and house.
I am an all round nerd who loves technology, maths, science, and virtually all other things that geeks and dweebs love.
My signature catch phrase is sweet puberty!
To whoever stole my glasses, I will find you. I have contacts.
In 2018, I made a game with the simple goal of typing as many words correctly as you can in 35 seconds. The game got a rewrite in 2020 and was updated through 2021 with a settings menu, background music, a high score system, 5 rounds of gameplay and more. Now, thanks to the help of GitHub Copilot and the Community Access accessibility agents from @JeffBishop@mastodon.online and @tayarndt@techopolis.social, you can now experience the game in the web browser. https://seedy.cc/typerspeed/
2010s: old man yells at cloud.
2020s: old man yells at Claude.
2030s: old Claude yells at new Claude in the cloud.
2100s: a bunch of cloud Claudes start yelling at each-other because they seemingly can't get the pod bay doors open.
On this day in 1930, 96 years ago, Good Friday: The BBC literally had no news to report. As millions tuned into the BBC's radio service at 8:45 PM, the announcer said: 'There is no news', followed by 15 minutes of piano music. #OnThisDay
Long shot, but does anyone know of a free tool that can defeat the DRM on Apple TV (M4V) downloads? Thanks in advance.
Sorry, Jesus ain't coming today. 405 - resurrection method not allowed.
*Reviews LLM-generated code and sees a bunch of unnecessary references to win32com and pythoncom*
*Tells LLM there's no need to mess with all that shit when the library we're using has plenty of its own function calls that work well enough*
*LLM rewrites code to suit*
Know your code, folks.
I will be doing an experiment on this server soon, so don't worry if this instance falls over and dies for a minute or 2.
The fact that I can get better download and upload speeds when connected to my phone's mobile data via hotspot than I can on my home Wi-Fi feels like it should be against some law.
I randomly decided to look through some old posts from my last account before I migrated to this one. FastSM shows posts from around the time I revived this instance and moved to this account, but then there's a massive gap where about 6 months worth of posts are just 4O4. I know I've posted, boosted and replied a lot in that 6 months because the web interface shows it. CC @MewProjects@fwoof.space
Relay UK: great if you're deaf or hard of hearing, not so good if you're blind. Android? If you want items that screen readers literally can't get to. iOS? If you use screen recognition, even then it's kinda spotty. Windows? Don't even bother. I expected better from BT to be honest.
Another few-daily instance update complete. Version: 4.6.0-alpha.6+glitch. And nothing caught fire this time.
Had a dream about me and my dad last night. Nintendo had released a new version of the Wii to celebrate its 20th anniversary, which for some reason they called the Wii 3; what happened to the Wii 2? So my dad had bought it for us to try out. Dreams like these feel all the more poignant now he's no longer alive.
At first, I thought the NVDA acting weird in Street Fighter V thing was just a me problem, but it's happening in USFIV too and the logs say this is most certainly not just a me problem.

These logs are from the NVDA 2026.1 beta, but it happens in 2025 too. @NVAccess@fostodon.org
I wondered why my Windows XP VM was suddenly lagging like hell when it had been flying like a bird for ages, until I tried updating VMWare Workstation and the installer detected Hyper-V was being used. Well, there's your answer, Seedy. Disabled Virtual Machine Platform via Windows Features, restarted the PC and now XP is flying like a bird again. Never let VMWare use the Windows hypervisor, folks. Let VMWare be the hypervisor.
