Introducing the BT Feature Spotlight!

Every month, Blazie Technologies releases new updates for our BT devices, bringing new features, improvements, and enhancements to our users. Starting this month, we’re introducing the BT Feature Spotlight, where we’ll highlight some of the exciting features included in each monthly update.

First up for September: Dropbox Support!

Dropbox is now available on BT Braille and will soon arrive on the BT Speak. You'll be able to browse, search, download, rename, delete, and upload files directly from your device. You can also upload files or directories from File Manager to Dropbox.

And this is only the beginning! Throughout September, we’ll be highlighting more features from this month’s update.

Kick off the Road to the National Coding Symposium with a look at BT Code, the built-in Python learning and development environment for BT Speak and BT Braille. Learn Python through guided lessons, games, and audio-based activities, with an AI coding assistant that offers help, feedback, and debugging support along the way. Then move into a full braille-first IDE where you can build your own applications and projects using real Python tools. Finally, discover the Code Store, where you can share your work, explore projects from others, and join a growing community of blind coders.

The first official, long-distance Morse code message was sent on May 24, 1844.
Samuel F. B. Morse transmitted the famous phrase, "What hath God wrought!" (a quote from the Bible, Numbers 23:23), from the Supreme Court chamber in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., to his assistant, Alfred Vail, at a railroad station in Baltimore, Maryland.

BT Speak and BT Braille have a basic Morse code app that allows you to type text and hear that text in Morse code. Coming soon, the Morse code app will be receiving a major upgrade with many more features, including a Morse code game, the ability to have an entire file read in Morse code and settings to let you change the tone frequency and the Morse code speed in words per minute. With this update, you’ll be a Morse code master. Coming soon to a BT Speak or BT Braille near you.

Our radio tuner offers over 55,000 radio stations and more are continually being added. However, one benefit of the Radio-Browser database that we offer is that anyone can add a station to the database through the Radio-Browser.info Web site. There’s an easy way to look up links for direct audio streams to many stations, making adding a station a quicker and easier process. Want to find out how?

Build Your Own Radio Experience on BT Braille and BT Speak

We are pleased to report that the radio tuner in BT Speak and BT Braille now offers over 55,000 radio stations.
If you haven’t done so in a while, we encourage you to refresh the station database to ensure that your BT Speak or BT Braille has the most current list of stations.
To do this, go to Options, Applications, Media, Radio Tuner, Refresh the Station Database.
After about a minute or two, you will be given an updated count of the total number of radio stations.
Next, from the Radio Tuner menu, you can choose Listen to a Station to search for a station by entering a name or even a partial name.
You can also go to Browse Stations by Location if you want to browse the directory based on your desired location.

The September 2026 update brings an improved Backup and Restore experience to BT Speak and BT Braille! Backups now cover more of what matters, including all of the files in your home directory, Wi-Fi credentials, device settings, and your quick notes.
You also have more flexibility when choosing where to save your backup. Backups can be stored in the Public folder, on USB storage, or on an SD card, with progress updates provided along the way.
