As a programmer, I wish I could help people understand that the fastest part of any project is writing the code...
Non-programmers always want to throw more code writers at a project to speed things up. The "Mythical Man Month" problem aside,
the bottlenecks are all the legwork involved in defining the problem, the scope of this particular task, and fully testing it.
Even before AI, writing code was fast and we already have a lot of tools to crank it out...if we're clear on *what* to crank out.
This is prolly true in all fields, this difference in understanding between the people who actually work in a field, and the people who are adjacent to that field.
Did you ever notice that a Venn diagram of managers who say,
"Take as much time as you need, but don't spend 'too much' time"
and
"Why can't you give me a solid time estimate?"
is a circle?

Based in #japan , great for Asia or Aus/NZ time zones, US West Coast next best, but can work with Europe if it's not too much in-person meeting stuff all the time
Oh, and did I mention testing?

I'm certain if I walked around my city in Japan, or dropped over to Korea or China, most people wouldn't know or think about that difference
Tbh, I'm pretty confident I could walk around European or Aussie/NZ cities and most random people would say that's an Islamic phrase, even if they realize it is spoken in Arabic.

Just a few days ago there was a (small) protest against a mosque in Tokyo - protesting its existence - because, to quote one woman literally -
"I should probably learn more about them (Muslims), but they scare me. What if they are terrorists?"

Just a reminder - according to the accepted conduct of war, if you sink an enemy ship, you are expected to make an honest attempt to rescue survivors unless it would put your own vessel in danger
Of course that doesn't always happen, but the middle of the Indian Ocean was prolly a safe enough spot to take prisoners or deliver them to the nearest port

Europeans are having fuel issues because, just like America, they had decades to get themselves off of fossil fuels, and instead elected leaders tied to the fossil fuel industry
Many Americans are glad to see the rest of the world finally waking up and realizing that, no, America isn't the root of all their problems, and they are quite capable of standing up for themselves - if they just actually do it

Unfortunately, those are the people who prefer to code, and are now being told their new job is code-reviewing robots.

rather than people like me who are primarily self-taught & just know "how to get things done"
Especially in web development, knowing the framework won't really get you hired anymore
That's a big barrier to entry for hundreds of thousands of people who used "a computer job" as a way to get their first step up
