I’m really loving my new MacBook Neo. Part of that might just be the fun of learning something new, but somethings are just nicer on the Mac, and the interopverability with my iPhone is also nice.

It's also so small, thin ad light that I use it around the house, and I see myself traveling with it. My 15 inch laptop never leaves the desk. When traveling, I do use my iPhone, but there are some things where I miss a keyboard and connecting a keyboard to my iPhone isn't as nice as using my Neo.

@ariarhythmic@ohai.social @peter@thepit.social I’m not an expert on our educational system as a whole, but my wife is a teacher, and this doesn't reflect her commitment to teaching at all. She puts a lot of work into her lesson plans, assignments and grading. Based on some of her student evaluations and comments on sites like Rate my Professor, it's clear that some students won't give her methods a chance and write her assignments off as pointless.

I wonder how many questions on mailing lists take longer to get answered because the subject line is so vague. The subject line is also just plain wrong when a thread is hijacked. I guess I'm just encouraging people to think a bit about their subject lines and what's going to get them the answers they want as quickly as possible.

@menelion I hear you, but I also don't want to pay higher medical or insurance costs to subsidize someone's bad habit. I do know psmokers pay higher insurance premiums these days. As you say though, where does it end. Should people who drink sugary beverages have to pay for more insurance too? That doesn't seem right either. I do get annoyed when I hear of someone who drove through a closed low water crossing and then has to be rescued. I don't want anyone to lose their lives for being stupid, but I also shouldn't have to pay for their rescue.

@augieray @cachondo Trump chose to go to war with Iran and not fund day care, Medicaid, or Medicare. He could have chosen negotiation instead, which is what presidents for the last 40 years have chosen. Unless Isreal made Trump do something he didn't want to, he definitely had a choice.

@BTyson@dragonscave.space All things considered, I prefer touch ID over face ID, but face ID doesn't keep me from choosing a phone. I did get much better results once I realized I needed to hold the phone a bit further from my face. I still don't find it as convenient as touch ID. #iphone

I've been meaning to look this up, but what is the difference between mute and block anyway? Also, how do I set up filters in the Mastodon clients? Finally, and I'm new to Mastodon, but couldn't you just not follow people who's posting you don't like?

It is true that the FCC didn't "force" CBS to push the Talarico interview to their YouTube channel, but they've definitely been pressuring the media not to put out anything critical to Trump and his fellow buttercups. CBS caved to this pressure in order to curry favor with this administration and get Trump the socialist to weigh in on their efforts to acquire Warner Brothers. There's plenty of blain to go around here that no one needs to overstate their case.

It could just be tribalism, or maybe it's that people get attached to something they put a lot of effort into researching and deciding what's best. IMHO, people shouldn't really care what someone else decides to use. We all have that freedom to choose and make our own decisions. We're not all looking for the same thing in a distro or anything else. We shouldn't assume that someone else is going to use something the same way we are. We're not all the same!
