Great news - Our film's being shown in public on a decent sized screen! Hope I output the final encode at high-enough quality 😬

Request please for anyone who knows Sheffield in the UK. I'm up there on my birthday supporting my daughter who's competing in a fencing tournament at the EIS building on Coleridge Road. Is there anywhere nice within say a 15 minute walk were we could go eat in the evening afterwards? Not really looking for chains, but local experience/advice.

@lennybacon Looks like only Startpage/Brave have indexed the reddit post I went via. Of course, if I search "Prompting With Hitler!" on Bluesky, several posts with links to the OG source turn up (and indeed the source themselves), but I imagine Liam's spread too thin to search every social media service he's a member of just to give credit to the creative behind it. But he's apologised, so lets move on.

@lproven @lennybacon Honestly, I searched on "You're Prompting With Hitler", and the top link was a reddit post which had a link to the source. I've a SearxNG instance I use, so maybe Google is hiding it given its message.

@annecavicchi I think the Adobe ID is required if you want to read DRM'd books on a computer because it uses Adobe Editions. It's a necessary process to remove that DRM, I understand. @Eatsbluecrayon @dnparadice @thomasfuchs

@mastodonmigration@mastodon.online Can't see anything here about Mastodon being just a part of a wider ecosystem of services offering different experiences that are all capable of talking to each other. I know Pixelfed, Lemmy, Peertube and Friendica make my feed more interesting. BlueSky has none of that flexibility.

@mapache Hiya, yes, I would like to test this. I currently use @linkstack for this, so it'll be great to see how your system works. I will need to self-host though - will that be possible?

@jwtownshend OOH, trams - cool. Yeah, let's add a tram-ride as far as West Street to the list of things I'm prepared to do then. Thank you.

@M0CUV This was the listing. It's gone up by £5 since I purchased, but I've no issue with them. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/147200609469

@ottaross Maybe you do, but in several jurisdictions that's illegal, and I don't publicly post about personally doing illegal things. I mean, I use my new XTEINK X4 to read the many epubs that live on my Calibre-Web server. How they arrived there is my business, but I survive by people buying creative output, so they're paid for! @Eatsbluecrayon is specifically looking for a method that involves no extra steps though, so lobbying publishers to remove DRM is the only legitimate way forward.

@Eatsbluecrayon @annecavicchi @dnparadice @thomasfuchs Kobo does allow that IF (and only if) the publisher decides to make the book available without DRM. It's not Kobo who has chosen DRM, but they have supplied the means I suppose. Source of knowledge: One of my wife's books that got indie published is available on Kobo without DRM - you buy it and download it, you get an ePub.

Apparently some people are not getting through the trail of links from this post, to our own server, to the Peertube server the actual video's on. Here's the direct link: https://spectra.video/w/4wkWxDFU8raJq5in9opeXE

@hikingdude Thanks Franz - glad you appreciated it. Boosting the Peertube post is clearly what I should have done in the first place, rather than "quoting" my IceShrimp one.

@neatnik Thanks for posting this. I tried setting it up on my homelab, but it really doesn't like sitting behind a reverse proxy. So I gave up and got an account with Hetzner. Sadly, although I used your link, I didn't get offered credit (in fact they charged €20 up front), so I don't think you'll get your €10 either - apologies. Did get the Discourse server spun up and configured though, so that bit's all good.

@bjoernsta@eimsbuettel.social @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu C'mon EU, how hard is it to drop another icon on? If your CMS doesn't allow it there are a few people around here who can code and might well be able to help.

It should be noted that a living wage for the time it took would make it worth three times the cost of the device before materials costs. I'm not making another anyway. It does thicken the device significantly, but it's still as pocketable as my wallet, so is perfectly acceptable to me. And since the X4 is only held in with its magnet, it's easy to take out if I want it smaller. Might investigate small magnets to hold it closed too, but the leather's thick, so they'll have to be strong.

@Soozcat@vmst.io I've found with my brother label printer (although a different model) that the batteries last an order of magnitude longer of they're taken out between uses. I think there's a constant drain when my device is turned off, so they'll be flat if I print one label and leave them in for a week, but they'll happily print five labels a month for a year if I remove them. @malcircuit@thingy.social @danni_storm@hachyderm.io
