Agi: Sheffield, neonata uccisa in casa a coltellate. Scattano 7 arresti
Sheffield, newborn baby murdered in house with knives. 7 arrests made.
AGI - A newborn baby was stabbed to death inside a home in Wincobank, a district of Sheffield in northern England. Found on Sunday morning by police officers in desperate condition, the little girl died at the scene before paramedics could transport her to hospital.
The South Yorkshire Police have opened an investigation into murder following the incident, leading to seven people aged between 15 and 37 being arrested immediately. Two of them (aged 26 and 37) were temporarily released on bail, while investigators obtained an extension to the custody of the other five suspects.
The words of the investigators: “We will follow every lead to give her justice.”
Detective Chief Tom Woodward, who is leading the complex investigations, commented on the incident: "It's a profoundly painful event for anyone who would have wanted to love this child, for the rescuers and for the entire community. Our commitment to her is unwavering: we will pursue every single lead to ensure she receives the justice she deserves.”
The disbelief of neighbors: “We didn’t know there was a newborn in that house”
Bouquets of flowers left by residents were appearing at the scene of the crime, in Holywell Heights. Neighbors describe the family who had moved in about eight months ago – consisting of a couple and three teenagers – as quiet and reserved people.
A resident told the BBC that she had never noticed anything unusual, apart from frequent visits from acquaintances: "We never heard suspicious noises, just the door opening and closing. Sunday morning suddenly the street was filled with patrols and ambulances: it was chaos. We didn’t even know there was a pregnant woman in that house; we are devastated.”
As forensic investigators continue to search the property for evidence, police have renewed their appeal to anyone in possession of useful information to come forward.
