@the_wub@mastodon.social @alexandrageese@bonn.social Totally agree, an app doesn't solve the problem. These glasses are an extension of the evil that Meta thrives on. Meta has no redeeming qualities, nor do any of their technologies. Some products need to be banned, these are an example.

Today I encouraged the last person on my Facebook Messenger list to move to Signal, so now I can delete Messenger and WhatsApp. All my Instagram posts have been deleted. This week all my Facebook posts will be deleted, although like you I will retain a tombstone account for a little while, and then let it go too. Time to focus on the #FediVerse: #mastodon, #PixelFed, #loops and #PeerTube.

My folks made the decision to emmigrate from the UK back in the 1970s. Best decision they made! The opportunities here shaped our future in such positive ways. I cannot imagine my life had we stayed in the UK. Canada has been good to us.

@sheepnik I took a little drive out into the countryside last night at midnight to find a dark field unobstructed by trees, and on each country road I found several cars pulled to the side, with folks standing outside in the chilly autumn air, all taking the time to look up. This late at night, when most folks are tucked in to bed, or wrapping up their binge watching, instead so many people decided to go outside and enjoy something beautiful. It was a heartening moment. #aurora

@moira@mastodon.murkworks.net Does this mean marine VHF weather broadcasts will end? There's parts of Lake Ontario (one of the narrower of the Great Lakes) where you cannot get a cell signal. And if you can't get an offshore cell signal there, you sure won't on Lake Huron and Superior and probably Lake Michigan too. That's not cool or safe, if the marine VHF weather broadcasts are ending....
