So, the coming timetables for the trains from Finland to Haaparanta in Sweden have been published now. On working days two trains per day and direction. On Saturdays ("la") three, on Sundays ("su") three as well. Ol=Oulu, Hpa=Haaparanta.

Leaving 5:08 in the morning from Oulu is humoristic! But expected, as VR wants to prove passengers don't want to use this connection.

In practical terms there's one usable train per week: On Saturday.

The less surveillance there is, the better chances the society has for ridding itself of the fascism and returning to safe tracks. We as a society "have nothing to hide" right now, but in the future we will, some day. Who supports surveillance is an enemy of the organized society.

@shanie @puujalkavihrea I think Berlin had the same when I lived there. I never saw a wheelchair in a bus there, though. Probably because entering is more difficult? The bus also had fewer seats because the corridor needed to be wider, which means you need to pay for a longer bus to get the same amount of seats. I don't quite understand why pay that much to increase ticket sales very little. Easier and cheaper to just let them travel for free.

Mutta vasta sen jälkeen näin jalankulkijoiden tapahtumasta videon ja se kyllä yllätti. Oletukseni oli, että kävelymatka olisi niin pitkä, ettei jalankulkijoita olisi hirveästi. Pyöräilijöitä olo paljon, mutta jalankulkijoita ihan kreisibailupaljon.

@EUCommission At least https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autoradiopuhelin claims that mobile phones were used already in 1971, so the call in 1973 cannot have been the first one. But of course, back then Finland was not part of EU but UK was, so probably that was the first mobile phone call in a member state of an organisation that later got renamed to EU. EU roaming is a very cool thing all the same :)

It is inevitable that there will always be people who will try to turn any society fascist, but they will only succeed if the rest of the society decides to ignore their threat. Fascism itself is not inevitable, because it is always possible nipping it in the bud. But if we don't actively stop fascism again and again, and yet again, it will win.

That means: yes to Schengen area, yes to Euro, full membership fees. F.ex. I will personally be very glad to have you back, but only with the same rules as us mere mortals. And this sentiment seems to be widely shared across the EU. As I don't really see more than, say, 30% of UK inhabitants agreeing to this, I find breentry very unlikely 😢

ZS can only exist in Hungarian (it marks the ž sound) and the closest hit for "äa" is that it's got something to do with German. You basically must stop your car for the call in order to make sure it won't drop. Zumindest im 2008 bis 2010 war im Berlin das Wetter stets ziemlich genau um ein Monat wärmer als in Finnland.

Juni hatte man dort also bereits am 1. Mai, usw. Fühlte sich vollkommen verrückt!

Und Januar gab es in Berlin gar nicht, während es zweimal August gab, mit knapp über 4 Wochen irgendeiner Sauna dazwischen.

Bird, that otherwise has the crappiest service and vehicles limits to 24 km/h (and has no limiter for downhills, which means that with its scoots you get faster to your destination if you choose the hilliest possible route!)
