Kevin L., sanity is overrated.

I’m kind of at my wit’s end about something, and out of desperation I’m reaching out hoping someone might have a clue about what to do about a strange thing that’s happening with my iPhone. In a moment of insanity, I agreed to get put on the board of our homeowner’s association. I was added to a text group with the other board members. Now here’s where it gets weird. I’m not getting any of the messages in the group. They have my phone number right, and they get messages I send, but I see none of theirs. Unless, I power down and restart my phone, in which case all the messages come flooding in. Then, I stop receiving them again, until I repeat the powering off and rebooting. I’m part of several other threads, and this is the only one where this is happening. I wonder if it has anything to do with some of the group not using iPhones? I don’t know, I’m just trying to find a solution, and I really don’t want to make a trip to the Apple store. I feel like this is such an outlier. Has this ever happened to anyone else? I’d really like to get to the bottom of this. #A11Y #Blind #BlindTech #iPhone #VoiceOver
Everything is terrible, but at least I have one good thing tonight; the sweet gray fluffy cat crashed out on the arm of the chair next to me. She’s good for my heart. Sorry, no pictures. #CatsOfMastodon #CaturdayEveryDay
I’m just feeling tired. Bone weary. There’s so much out there right now that’s screwed up and wrong that it’s hard to remember there’s a lot right as well. #Caturday posts help. I often wish I were a cat, I’d get all my needs met, get petted all the time, and the only thing I’d have to worry about is why is my human so late with the treats? Even with all this, I still believe in the power of prayer. Faith is a hard thing. When I wake up tomorrow morning that will be a victory. Take care of yourselves, everyone. #GoodNight
I thought some people might appreciate a kitty picture.
Regarding Artemis II, I admit I haven’t gotten much into it. I’m not against it or anything like that, it just hasn’t grabbed my attention. But I’m thinking about America’s relationship with space travel. To me, it’s a miracle that we went from #JFK putting out the challenge to put a person on the moon to Neil Armstrong saying one giant leap in only 8 years. Then there were six more trips to the Moon in the next 3 years, with five actually landing, the only exception being Apollo 13. Then the moon just kind of faded away, and we didn’t even attempt to go back for the next 53 years. #NASA could do no wrong in the 60s and early 70s. Some were saying the Moon could be colonized by 2000. Nope, didn’t happen. And now, even with the triumph and success of Artemis II, the regime still wants to cut funding even more to NASA. I guess we should celebrate things like this while we still can. #Artemis
Good morning Mastheads. I was not alive yet when America endured the Cuban missile crisis, but I’m pretty sure I now have a taste of how people were feeling during that time. Of course, the difference in this case was JFK was not telling Khrushchev to get his fucking missiles out of Cuba, adding sick bastard for good measure. I have a pretty strong hunch that the orange menace will pull a #TACO and say that the peace talks in his head have achieved a breakthrough, or something. Even still, I suspect my knuckles will be somewhat white this evening.
For the last 15 or so minutes I’ve been sitting here trying to figure out what I wanted to write, and I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that, tonight at least, I’ve got nothing. The man a majority of voters thought would be a good choice for #POTUS is a deranged lunatic, and the Secretary of Defense is clearly a religious zealot. Does his rhetoric strike anyone else as similar to the calls for #Jihad from the likes of bin Laden back in the day? So, yeah, what else is there? Bed seems like the best option. #GoodNight
Those of us who keep up with my personal stuff here probably remember that last month I underwent some cognitive testing because I was experiencing some short-term memory loss and other things that alarmed me and I wanted to at least rule out something like dementia. I passed the cognitive exams with flying colors, and an MRI did not detect anything amiss. But last week I’m pretty sure I figured out what’s probably at the root of this. It hit me, like a ton of bricks, actually, that I had pretty much checked out of everything, including things I cared about and brought me joy. #MarchMadness was beginning, for instance, and I was completely clueless. I never even folllowed my #Zags all year. There are other examples of this as well. At least I haven’t lost my interest in reading. I’m clearly going through a very rough patch of what Sarah and I call the D word, something that is always with me but I usually try to keep at bay as much as I can. I’m being proactive; I saw a psychiatrist on Thrusday and we’re exploring some potential med adjustments. It’s going to be a process. I’ll get out of this valley, I always do, but for now I’d appreciate thoughts/prayers/positive mojo. Thanks.
I think I might have stumbled upon why I’ve been having such a hard time emotionally. Recent bloodwork indicates my Vitamin D levels are completely in the tank. Like, the norm is 20, and I’m at 9. Time for some Vitamin D supplements, I would say. This won’t do anything regarding all the external things that are terrible, but maybe once my Vitamin D levels are up I’ll be better equipped to handle it.
Well I suppose this is a good thing to know if I ever find myself owing $100 million in taxes. I do wonder what other methods of payments are possible? I’ve never heard of a credit hard with a $100 million limit. I’d be tempted to pay it in pennies, but I hear they’re not making those anymore. @todayilearned@noc.social
