On May 9, the volunteer-run Talyllyn Railway will be holding a Talyllyn Women’s Day event, where the entire railway will be staffed by women volunteers. They’re a great little railway and I strongly encourage people to go and support events like this!
Steam locomotive ash is still being used to seal up canal lock gates - a traditional practice that is still more effective than more modern sealants. Canals and heritage railways in the UK are now working together to continue doing it.
